Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
This compact homely end-terrace cottage is ideally located on the beautiful open grazing of Hungerford Common yet is a ten minute walk to the high street and five to the train station (direct to London Paddington in an hour) and is 3 miles from the M4. It has an enclosed front garden and small yard. The cottage is used at various times by the family including small children giving it a cozy lived-in feel and while it is warm, inviting and fully functioning, some parts are old and well-used.

The space
The front door opens onto the living room with an attractive brick fireplace, open beams and a log burning stove. There is a TV and comfortable sofa and some books and children’s toys. Behind is the well equipped kitchen with dining space for 4 people as well as a toilet and washer/dryer room. There is a steep winding staircase up to a small landing, double bedroom overlooking the garden and common, bathroom in need of some updating and a comfortable bunk room at the back.
NOTE: There is a security camera on the tall bookcase by the front door. Please unplug on arrival and plug back in on your final departure.

Guest access
Guests have full access to the property and garden. There is technically a right of way to two other cottages down the garden path and yard but this has extremely rarely been used.

Other things to note
There is a security camera on the tall chest of drawers in the living room. Please unplug it on your arrival and plug it back in on your final departure.

There is one car parking space for the cottage by the track at the bottom of the garden. A permit (found on the bookcase in the living room) must be displayed in your vehicle to avoid a fine. Between Spring and Autumn, there is a herd of cattle loose on the common who may lick or damage your car.

The water pressure to the upstairs bathroom is low and the shower will not run hot if other taps in the house are being used at the same time.

The heating can be controlled remotely so we can heat the property prior to your arrival. You can adjust it using the dial on the kitchen wall.

There is one key for both front and back door.

The gate must always be closed and the chain put over because there are cows loose on the common.

Please be extremely careful if you use the log burning stove. No coal - only wood. There is some kindling behind the TV. Please replace it. There are more logs outside.

The property is situated on a track but near to the road. A few doors away is a quiet country pub that welcomes dogs and serves good food. It is a ten minute walk to Hungerford high street with its antique and gift shops, cafes, bookshop, chemist, post office, pubs and supermarket. Hungerford train station can be found between the cottage and the high street. Hungerford common, on which the cottage lies, is a huge open space for recreation and walking/running. On one side of the common is the Kennet and Avon canal with its miles of attractive towpaths and canal cruises and the trout fishing of the river Kennet. There is a public library, gym and 25m public swimming pool in the town.
The market town of Marlborough is 10 miles away and Newbury is 9 miles. Both have a wide range of shops and amenities.
