Neighbourhood highlights

We are located in Gascoigne Cove in Flat River. It is an agricultural rural community. Crops of corn, soybean, potato and grain are a few of the crops you will see. There are 2 historic lighthouses nearby, along with golfing, winetasting, kayaking and clam digging. We are approximately 12 miles from the Wood Islands ferry that goes to Pictou, Nova Scotia and approximately a 30-35 minute drive to Charlottetown. The Blue Caboose has a fun 5 hole pitching/chipping golf field. Spring and summer bring mosquitoes and black flies. We have mosquito spray, citronella candles, suntan lotion and beach accessories. Volleyball, badmitton and clam digging as the tide permits.
We have two Whippet dogs, Rosie and Lucy on our separate property close by.

Lives in Flat River, Canada
I have always been in love with trains especially the Boston/Maine. My aunt would travel by bus from PEI to Bangor, Maine. She would then board the B&M train to Boston to pick my sister and I up to go back to PEI for the summer.I grew up just up the road from where the Blue Caboose is located. I purchased the caboose in 2006 and it was on the rails in Tilton, New Hampshire where it went on trips with other cabooses. Go to Youtube to see her in action. Search "Hobo Railroad Tilton crossing 12/7/08. She is the next to the last caboose crossing. There are other Youtube videos under Tilton/Northfield trains. I brought her here in November 2013 because I retired and the caboose trips were becoming more infrequent. The Blue Caboose has an attached bedroom, bath and deck on the back. We added Wifi/Satellite tv, A/C and heat along with a full kitchen in the caboose. We live on the adjoining lot in the woods above the caboose. The Caboose has been open since August 2014 and I am in the process of putting more of my favorite train pictures, stories and experience book together. We hope you enjoy our Blue Caboose and the people of Prince Edward Island. Please note that GPS coordinates are not accurate in finding us. The road to the Blue Caboose is in Flat River (not Belle River) right off of the Transcanada Rte 1. Easy to find and about 10 minutes to the Wood Islands ferry to Pictou, NS.
