A full breakfast and on-site Tavern and Dining Room compliment this charming room. From its windows, admire the gardens framing the lawn of the inn, and hear the gentle sounds of a koi pond waterfall. In 1884, the innkeeper added an ell to the 1789 inn to accommodate a ballroom, site of lively evenings of dancing. The "Ballroom," still retains the dramatic arched ceiling of the original building. A king, cannonball style four-posted bed and Sheraton nightstands furnish this gracious retreat.

The space
This historic inn, in the heart of New Hampshire's Monadnock Region, has hosted guests for over 200 years. A Tavern is on-site, and we offer beers, ales, ciders, wine, and cocktails. From spring until the end of October, we serve dinner Wed. through Sunday. Hikes, walks and drives in the area offer unsurpassed views of New England's famous fall foliage. Charming villages nearby are destinations for dining, biking, or gallery visits. The inn and surrounding buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

My husband, Jarvis, and I have been the owners of The Hancock Inn in Hancock, NH since 2011. We are the 14th owners of the oldest inn in New Hampshire. People ask, "How old is the inn?" It's been here since 1789, we say. "Was it ever something beside an inn," they ask? No, we answer. The Hancock Inn has been an inn all of its life. Being an inn is the only thing it has ever known. It is the only job it has ever had. And we believe it loves the job - as do we!
