This is a cosy downstairs basement studio which can sleep 1 or 2 people. There is a light bedroom and sitting area with twin beds and pine furnishing. The bright ensuite shower room has towels and toiletries . There is a kitchenette area well equipped with crockery, cutlery and pans, microwave, small cooker, toaster and sink. If you prefer breakfast to be provided, I can provide a self-help continental breakfast basket £5 per person. Generous discounts for longer stays - just contact me.

The space
The flat was originally the laundry area for the house and has the old copper with fire underneath as a feature of the room. It has separate independent access to the main house. To reach the flat you go down some exterior stairs , so not suitable for small children or anyone with limited mobility.

Other things to note
There is free onsite parking for a small car - otherwise pay and display parking nearby.
Covid - 19 - I am doing everything I can to keep you and myself safe for your visit. A full deep clean is being done in addition to our normal clean along with a 2 day vacant window between guests .

Cockermouth is an attractive traditional market town and with plenty of independent shops as well as supermarkets. Wordsworth House, where the young William Wordsworth grew up, is run by the National Trust and is 5 minutes walk down the Main Street. There are regular Taste of Cumbria Food Festivals and each June the Woolfest draws many people to the town. Restaurants and cafes provide a great range of cuisines and for coffee and lunches the Wild Zucchini is very friendly and good value.

I enjoy meeting people from UK and around the world and welcoming them to this lovely area of Cumbria and the Lake District. I used to work in the tourist office, so have lots of detailed knowledge about places to visit, walks to take, and places to eat. I find that my 3 roomed bed and breakfast keeps me pretty busy! I have been running the b and b for several years and have welcomed many people who have returned for second and third visits! My small, friendly dog Eccles keeps me active outdoors, and she works as a very efficient door-bell! When I get the time I enjoy reading, art and craft activities such as patchwork, music and visiting gardens with good tea shops! I help out at the local Kirkgate theatre back stage and have sung in musicals at Theatre by the Lake, Keswick. I pride myself on providing a hearty breakfast with good quality ingredients - local wherever possible. Do ask if you have any questions or requests and I will try to help. Enjoy!
