This is a very small space that is meant to serve the basic needs of travelers on a budget. Comfortable, clean, detached studio guesthouse conveniently located close to downtown Kailua-Kona yet removed from the hustle and bustle in a residential neighborhood. 20 minutes from the airport.

The space
This is a very small space, approximately 300 sq ft. Perfect for solo or couple travelers on a budget. It will meet your basic needs with a comfortable place to sleep, shower, a microwave, dishes, refrigerator, freezer, coffee maker, and two fans. The room can get hot during the day, especially during hotter times of the year, yet since it is located at a fairly high elevation it cools down nicely at night. Two fans provided. There is no closet or dresser but there are some shelves that can be used for clothing storage. Wifi provided. Conveniently located a mile and a half from Safeway and Walmart and approximately a 10 minute drive from downtown Kailua-Kona. This is a very old Hawaiian neighborhood and the space is an old structure. Although it is clean and comfortable, this is Hawaii, please do not be frightened if you encounter some ants in the unit. The shower is very old and has collected some stains over the years but I assure, it is scrubbed after each guest checks out. Must be okay with animals as there is a cat that lives on the property and hangs out in the carport area nearby the unit and will most likely come to say hello. He does not have access to your unit if you do not want him to. There are also two dogs that live on the property but you will most likely not encounter them as they live in the main house and stick to the backyard. The houses in this neighborhood are close together and windows are left open for a nice island breeze so please expect to hear some level of neighborhood life.

Other things to note
As a diver and lover of the ocean it has become increasingly disheartening for me to see how unaware visitors to our islands are of their impact on our sensitive ecosystems. As most are aware, the coral reefs around the world are struggling to survive in the face of climate change and other damaging sources. Here in Hawaii, our reefs are struggling to survive and one thing you can do as a visitor to reduce your impact on our fragile reef is simply to check the ingredients in your sunscreen. PLEASE try your hardest to find REEF SAFE sunscreen. With hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, it is crucial that the public become aware of how important this is.
Also, If you are a hiker and plan to visit the beautiful trails and parks of our island, please do some research and educate yourself about Rapid Ohia Death and what you can do to prevent spreading this deadly fungus. It is as simple as wiping down your shoes before and after hiking. Please help us preserve our coral reefs and beautiful Ohia trees. They are both vital to the health of our island ecosystems.

If you are interested in learning to free dive my partner, Dylan Currier, is an instructor through FII. You can look up his profile on FII's website that includes already set class dates. If you are visiting the island and are interested in taking a free diving course you can contact him directly and try to set one up in accordance to your schedule.
