Having stayed at Emily's apartment in DC for 4 nights, I can positively vouch that the description and useful information on the listing are exactly as-is, which was very confidence inspiring. The photo's are completely as the apartment was and there's plenty of space throughout to enjoy your time in the city. The Georgia Ave / Petworth area is out the the immediate city district and all the sights, which gives it a nice local neighbourhood feel - but is easily and fast reached by the Metro station just a few minutes walk down the road. There's a great supermarket with Starbucks on the way too, highly recommended! The apartment block was fairly quiet and really does the job for a short stay. Although it did have that 'student dig' vibe and it would have been nice to know this prior. As such, the apartment has all the amenities you would need, but it could have been a bit cleaner i.e. the bathroom and mouldy soap and in some places the apartment gives that "state of much needed TLC". Overall however, it was handy in every sense and did the job. Emily kept in contact when needed, and let us know of recent ongoing building works within the lobby. This actually didn't affect us in the slightest and wasn't noise at all. However unfortunately the building works had caused damage to the apartment of which we received a very accusational response towards. As we had no access to WiFi, we were unable to communicate this in a timely manner. I certainly recommend that people read the "House Manual" on AirBNB to get this information as we received no response from Emily.

Emily was great. She was very friendly and provided good directions. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. I was in town for training and was exhausted at the end of the day. I was happy to listen to records, study, then sleep because the bed is comfortable and the neighborhood is quiet. There were enough places to eat nearby AND a couple markets for cooking yourself.

Emily was a wonderful host and the apartment was exactly as advertised. Our visit to DC with our two young teenagers was for sightseeing among the historic landmarks and museums. This was a perfect base. The neighborhood is a few miles from the Mall but easily accessible in six or seven stops on the metro. The Petworth station is a few minutes walk from the apartment. There's a huge beautiful Safeway grocery store with a Starbucks on the way to the train station, too. Looking back at the photos of the apartment, they appear exactly the way the apartment was presented for us. Parking was easy for us in the back lot. Emily was out of town during our stay but we were able to arrange an easy key pickup from her friend. Emily's record collection is wonderfully eclectic. I'm at least double her age but I found music I love including Madonna and the Eagles. By the time we left our young teenagers were singing "Hotel California". We also had to explain to them why the record player was too delicate for them to touch, why you couldn't jump backward and forward like on an iPod, and why the music sounded funny if the wrong speed button was on. The neighbors in the building we ran into were super nice. As we were leaving, carrying our belongings down the three floors, one young lady said she was surprised we were moving out and that she would miss us. There seemed to be a presumption that everyone knew each other and were quiet and respectful. One night around 10, there was one loud small dog nearby outdoors that kept barking for about an hour but the barking stopped so we could sleep. Be prepared that the kitchen is a bit of throwback to the 70s. Nothing would lead you to believe the kitchen has either a dishwasher or microwave, because neither the posted facts nor the accurate photos make that claim. For folks with these conveniences at home, be prepared to heat your food in a pot and wash dishes by hand. No biggie. There is a garbage disposal and a fancy-looking coffee maker that we didn't use. Emily left us plenty of closet space, refrigerator and freezer space. We didn't feel like we were crowding into someone's home and displacing them. Overall a great place at a great price. We would stay there again.

Emily is a great host. She left keys for us and was accessible via mobile during our entire stay. The flat is cosy and it's close to the metro. It was just what we needed for a short weekend stay.

My wife and I had a great time staying at Emily's place. She was flexible and met us when we arrived and accommodated our schedule. The apartment was clean. It was a pretty easy commute downtown -- about 25 minutes or so on the Metro. We spent most of our time downtown, but we were able to find a couple of places to grab a bite to eat within walking distance. We had a great stay!
