Classic Inn with Indigo-dyeing workshop stands in an area of about one acre. Why not trying fresh-picked vegetable plate for lunch at the gallery café?

The space
Having command of the Tonomi seashore, AIMA is a classic inn in the mountains located in the boundary between Hofu City and Syunan City in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
The charm of AIMA is nothing short of pristine nature and scenery. The place is easy to access for its suburban location. Breakfast with home-grown ingredients is just too good to pass up.
“Tonomi, meaning rich sea, is related to the educational movement of Edward Gauntlett who came to Japan from Wales of Great Britain in 1890 as a missionary and a member of the Royal Geographical Society. His achievements still contribute to this area for the most enthusiastic English education in the city regardless of its country location. Thus, Tonomi is a historic area for a bridge connecting oversea although not everyone can speak English.
Rev. Edward Gauntlett lived in this place and introduced the beauty of Tonomi seashore to oversea, making it famous for a summer resort. Tonomi is still popular among sea bathers in summer but for the rest of the year, staying relaxed in a slow life will come true.
AIMA, a classic inn in the mountains, has command of the Tonomi seashore used to be an Indigo-dyeing workshop and got restored to be a cozy place with an annexed cafe and a gallery on the west where anyone can enjoy its specialty coffee, lunch, and a view of country fields and the Tonomi ocean.

The guests of AIMA have a chance to experience the Japan-specific traditional craft of indigo dyeing (advance reservation is required), farming in the nearby fields, and join the Japanese tea ceremony in the tearoom of the "Hofu-tenmangu" Shrine with additional fees on-site.

Since the onsite communication in English might be limited, the English telephone support is available between 10 am and 5 pm on weekdays. Yet, basic communication in English would be attempted by the local staff between 11 am and 4 pm daily.
Please be noted that the English telephone service on holidays and weekdays after 5 pm to 8 pm needs a prior arrangement with extra fees of $19 or €15 per day.

It takes more than 15 minutes by walking from the station to the inn, please request the pickup service at the time of reservation.

Guest access
No private entrance.
Please keep off the workshop area.

Other things to note
The entire building is free from smoking.
