Want a relaxing stay in nature? Our 10 acre property with country home is for you! Only 9 minutes from the highway and 12 minutes from Barriere, but completely rural. Choice of a room with a queen bed or a room with two twins (or book both if needed), large bathroom, full kitchen access with free coffee & tea, wireless internet, & great views! We are 4 hours from both Vancouver & Jasper (or 4.5 hours from Whistler), making us the perfect stopover for your trip! 2+ night discounts available.

The space
Welcome to Glengrove Guesthouse!

There are two guest rooms: one has a a queen bed and the other one has two single beds, so we can accommodate a total of four guests. Book one room or both!

The rooms and large guest bathroom are upstairs. The bathroom is for the exclusive use of guests, only shared between the rooms if both are booked. The kitchen and living room are on the main floor. Our bedroom and private bathroom are also located on the main floor.

Guest access
We have a spacious kitchen for your shared use with us, with fridge/freezer, ceramic top stove, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. Fully equipped with cookware and dishes. Breakfast available for $5 per person with advance notice (choose two: toast, bagel, fruit, cereal and milk, yogurt + tea/coffee/juice).

The cozy living room with a wood stove has board games and a large TV with basic channels. There is also free wireless internet throughout the house.

The patio is great for watching sunsets, and there is a large deck with lots of seating overlooking a pasture with a view of the forested mountains. We also have a BBQ and fire pit for cookouts!

Other things to note
We have a medium sized dog who is hypoallergenic (he has hair, not fur, which reduces or eliminates allergic reactions), but we can keep him in our room if you are not a fan of dogs. We welcome other dogs, as we have a large fenced yard, but we don't let our dog play with others, as he has had some past trauma. Our pet fee is $10/day/pet to cover the extra cleaning required.

Several beautiful lakes are nearby (as close as 10 minutes away), all great for swimming, fishing, and kayaking. Forest Lake, Johnson Lake, East Barriere Lake, and North Barriere Lake are the most popular.

Amazing hiking is right out the back door, and on several trail networks in the area. We are 45 minutes from Clearwater, the gateway to Wells Grey Provincial Park, home of stunning tall waterfalls, a great place to spot a bear along the road, and endless hiking!

Our property backs onto crown land, so wildlife comes right through our yard... deer, rabbits, and many birds, including hummingbirds in the summer.

Barriere is popular for the North Thompson Fall Fair on Labour Day weekend every year, as well as the Provincial Winter Fair, the Celebration of Rural Living, and 4H and horse shows.

In the winter, Sun Peaks ski resort is less than an hour away via a back road, there is ski-dooing right off the property, and there are cross-country ski trails in the area.

Location

Barrière, British Columbia, Canada

Glengrove is an acreage subdivision located 12 minutes from the town of Barriere (1200 people). We are in a rural, forested area with no services within walking distance. The town has all essential services, so before coming up to the house, you may like to buy groceries at AG Foods (located on Barriere Town Road) or eat out at Sam's Pizza & Ribs, Armour Mountain Restaurant, A&W, or Subway (all located on the highway that goes through town). If you purchase groceries, you are welcome to cook at the house.

In Barriere, you will also find a drugstore with pharmacist, a doctor’s office with a small emergency department, a library, a post office, a bank, mechanic and auto parts, and several small shops. We have a few parks, a golf course, a curling rink, ball fields, tennis courts, and impressive rodeo grounds with a new indoor arena Agriplex.

We are 45 minutes north of the city of Kamloops (85,000 people) if you need shopping or services beyond what our small town offers.
