Welcome to this delightful, cozy, year-round gulf island retreat. Nestled in an arbutus grove on 2-acres with a short walk to the beach. Private, self- contained, fully-equipped for relaxing or working. Come enjoy beautiful Mayne!

The space

Welcome to Mayne Island, part of the beautiful Gulf Islands in the Salish Sea off the southern coast of British Columbia. Situated halfway between Vancouver and Victoria, Mayne Island is easily accessible by ferry (1- 1.5 hours) and offers the amenities of a small town while also providing a wonderful respite from city life.

I love this cabin and lived in it for 4 years while building my cob house. You will be pleasantly surprised by how private and well stocked it is (e.g. olive oil, balsamic vinegar). Most people say it is so comfortable, they feel right at home and many guests return over and over.

Amazing place! Walking distance to 3 public beaches and a short drive to the farmers market and grocery store. The space feels private and secluded but Kate is near by if you have any questions. Had a lovely weekend relaxing in the hammock and hot tub, hope to be back soon!

Another great trip to Kate's place on Mayne Island (this is our third time). This time we explored Henderson Park, played cards at the Lighthouse at Sunset, and checked out the Japanese Garden. Kate's place was amazing as usual: hot tub was perfect, bed was comfy, and we even got through some of the Lord of the Rings DVDs she has. Would definitely highly recommend.

Great little private getaway on Mayne Island. If you are looking for a nice, quiet adventure then this is the place for you. Short walk to the beach, a few great restaurants around the island and a private hot tub. Stayed here for my honeymoon with my wife and we had a ton of fun relaxing and resting.

Kate's place was the perfect spot for a relaxing weekend out of town. The cabin was warm, cozy, clean and private. Kate was very accomodating and it was very easy communicating with her about our check in and check out plans. We really loved the hot tub and the cozy fire! The cabin was very well equppied with everything we needed for the weekend , including tons of DVDs and CD's, candles , and the kitchen basics which allowed us to cook a couple of nice meals during our stay. We will definitely be back!

Interaction with guests

I always respect my guests privacy during their gulf-island retreat, and also enjoy a garden chat from time to time. I keep busy in my home and on the island, and am sometimes off-island visiting my daughters (but always make an effort to greet guests upon arrival).

About Kate

I am a retired library tech, avid gardener, dabbler in creative activities, animal lover and mother of three busy daughters. I love Mayne Island and enjoy sharing my gulf island retreat. In my younger years I travelled a bit and very much liked meeting people of all cultures. When my garden harvest is bountiful, it's a pleasure to share the results with my guests. I also have an interest in natural building and have built a cob house on the property.
