A Vivenda is a beautiful independent guest house. It is built in traditional style with modern day comfort. It has two bedrooms, a tastefully decorated living room with fireplace, separate kitchen and private veranda and terrace.

The space

You´ll be staying at Quinta Alfarrobeira, an inspiring estate of 6ha, 4 km from the lively fishermen’s town of Lagos and 1,5 km from the lagoons and the white, sandy beach of Meia Praia bay. As the Quinta is situated on a hill it has wonderful views all-around of the surrounding country side with its olive, fig and almond trees. The Quinta that breaths tranquillity offers a lot of space and privacy to its guests. There are several accommodation units that have been lovingly built and restored with an eye for detail. Each unit has its own character and all units are connected through an inner garden with terraces, paths, old olive trees, herb and vegetable gardens and fruit trees. The traditional bread oven in the garden will be occasionally lit for a pizza night. For years guests have been enjoying the peace, the beauty and magic of this very special place. Guest access

Besides the Vivenda there is one other guesthouse, two beautiful rooms and a loft appartment. Guests can freely wander around, use the various barbecues and the bread oven, pick fruit, herbs and vegetables in the various gardens and orchards, dream away in a hammock or take a dive in the large swimming pool. There is ample parking space

Interaction with guests

The Quinta is run by Dutch owners Theo and Inge and their sons in a relaxed, ´take us as you find us´ kind of way. All vegetables and fruit at the Quinta are organic and the eggs are free-range. You can purchase organic wine and/or vegetables from local producers or, if available from the Quinta´s garden. Every now and again we´ll light the bread oven and organize a pizza night.

Other things to note

The Quinta is run in a sustainable manner. We use renewable energy sources for hot water, cooking and central heating. A solar tracking system produces electricity, rainwater is collected, we recycle authentic building materials of architectural value, and, whenever possible, we use natural materials in the developing processes. We use ecologically friendly cleaning products and recycle waste materials in order to create the lowest environmental impact possible.

Inge made us feel incredibly welcome. She's really friendly and was great with our 9 year old son. Nothing was a problem and she stopped for a chat each day, but never intruded on our privacy. She was always available if we needed her help. We loved learning about her life here. She was great to talk to. On our first night, Inge very kindly thought to get food in for us, due to our late arrival. The accommodation is of a really high standard, beautifully and individually decorated, spacious, enough privacy and there's plenty of general amenities and stuff in the kitchen to make cooking and living easy. The garden and grounds are very special. The swimming pool was lovely to swim in, as it did not feel at all chlorinated. There was lots of information about what to do locally and further a field. The accommodation is in a great location, enough away from the towns, but near enough to walk to the beach along pleasant tracks. We loved Odiaxere, felt more authentic than around the coast ( the market and bakery were lovely). All a bit built up around the coast, though meia preia beach lovely and it's very easy to drive to more remote places (western algarve, west coast and mountains). This place is a real retreat from the busier areas. We wanted to stay another week, purely because it had such a nice relaxing and interesting vibe!
