Room in a home

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
Private BR with private BA attached. LOCATION ON A LAKE! Charming brick ranch located minutes from downtown Charleston, Folly Beach, and more! This 3BR, 3BA single story home is nestled on . 35 acre on Lake Frances! The kitchen and family room lead out to the backyard and lake, which is the star of the show.
The backyard and lake have so many ducks, geese, birds! It also includes a patio area. This is truly a unique oasis in the city and close to everything!

The space
An open and airy floorplan greets you along with great natural light, plenty of living space, and hardwood flooring. The large kitchen includes gas appliances, great natural light. The backyard includes a patio area, privacy fencing, and of course, Lake Frances! Feel free to use the bikes and kayaks that are here to enjoy the creek and lake and where the waters take you. You can explore the neighborhoods and bike or walk out to the intercoastal water ways and marshes. Walk down the street and easily get to a place where you can view all of Charleston across the Harbor. There are 2 hammocks and 2 lounge chairs you can chill at in the backyard or take them down to the edge of the creek. The creek is catch and release if you bring your poles.

We are pretty laid back and hope that you feel that sense when you are with us. The bedrooms are exceptionally cleaned and disinfected with great care. This home is the home of an artist so the shared may contain some crafts in progress :) Every effort is made to keep the home free from viruses and allergens. There are 3 air purifiers and the highest level of air filters in the home.

I have one other room (that it is possible) would be rented in the home usually to a fellow nurse or medical student. They are kind and quiet and have been through a thorough background check for their jobs or schooling.

Guest access
Everything. Mi Casa es su casa!

I also Rent out the other bedroom so more likely than not you will meet another traveler. Sometimes it is a medical student or a travel nurse.

During your stay
I am a nurse in the Operating Room downtown at one of the hospitals. I work full time and also work as a local artist in the community here.

Other things to note
Wilbur is the love of my life. The only thing I am super concerned about with new people :) My dog is my best friend and I want him to be safe. There is also a cat who stays to herself but i want to mention for allergic folk. Wilbur is hypollergenic but the cat is not :) the cat is not allowed in the guest rooms.

Neighbourhood highlights

I know you're excited to plan your Charleston trip! I wanted to list some things you might be interested in.

As far as restaurants, there are so many. The Charleston Crab House is on James Island a couple miles from the home on Wappoo Creek on the Wappoo River under a drawbridge and it is my favorite place to eat and watch the sunset. Their Snow Crab Legs are awesome. Restaurants within walking distance are the Grumpy Goat and an excellent Japanese restaurant.

There is also a plantation on the island that has tours which are very eye opening. It is called the Mcleod Plantation. It has very beautiful grounds to walk as well.

In West Ashley there is a hidden zoo/animal park and historic park called Charlestown Landing Park

The best thing to do is look up what is going on through the Charleston City Paper. They put out a weekly paper that is in all the bars and coffee shops and restaurants and really gets all the good stuff. It's also online at https charlestoncitypaper.com

Also, as far as shopping, you can't beat the old Slave Market on Market Street downtown. Such appalling history but today they have good vendors that are local artisans and artists.

And regarding beaches, Folly is of course my favorite for it's laid back vibe and hippy community. You will love looking for sharks teeth and there are many paddle-board and kayak outlets there. Sullivan's Beach has the most history and is the oldest. It is fun to look at all the amazing homes and the forts and old carriage houses. Good food too. Isle of Palms is the only beach that allows dogs year round, so there are pluses about all of them!

As far as art galleries, there are so many as well. My favorite are Robert Lange Gallery, Vendue and Charleston Artist Guild. They are all within walking distance and the first Friday of every month there is a free art walk where you can peruse the galleries and get free wine at each one :) I am actually a local artist here as well and my work is down at the Charleston Artist Guild so of course I am partial.

There is so much to do you will always want to come back!

I am an Operating Room Nurse in downtown Charleston. I love where I live because of how close it is to downtown and that it's close to my favorite beach, Folly. I am also a local artist. If you want to check out my art it is in Charleston Artist Guild Gallery on East Bay.
