Where you’ll be

Landers, California, United States

Landers is a 20 minute drive from the heart of Joshua Tree and has its own secluded vibe. Populated by artists, musicians and old desert dwellers, you’ll find an eclectic mix of people.

In recent years, Landers has been put on the map by the revival of the Integratron, now a soundbath center and fixture if the bohemian community. Fleet Foxes recorded an album in the building but the Integratron has some incredible history which I encourage you to read up about. There is a museum there that you can visit. Please be sure to book a sound bath well in advance. It’s popular!

La Copine is the best restaurant in the high desert. It’s been featured in the New York Times and the Michelin guide and attracts people from all over the world. It’s truly a special little magnet for curious people.

The Giant Rock Meeting Room is the best local haunt for creative creatures. They have live music most weekends and serve breakfast, lunch and great coffee in the day times.

Check out Moon Wind right next door for vintage clothes, oils, lotions, artwork and other bits and pieces.

For a real taste of local flavor, you can drive 3mins (or walk) to Landers Brew. It’s a classic desert dive bar with cheap drinks and live music.

The Noah Purifoy museum is an outdoor desert art museum devoted to the work of artist highly regarded desert artist, Noah Purifoy. Try to catch a guided walking tour, it’s fantastic!

Of course Joshua Tree National Park cannot be missed. It’s one of the most stunning national monuments in the country. For an easy hike try Hidden Valley!

Pappy and Harriets is a Yucca Valley institution. It’s in Pioneer town about 20 minutes from Planet Juniper. They have live music on weekends and have a decent menu and great drinks.

The Joshua Tree Saloon and Crossroads cafe are good places for a bite to eat as well.

The Joshua Tree art walk happens the 2nd Saturday of every month from 5-9pm.
