I am adding a little more information for travellers who do not know the City or our area. We are close to Mt. Seymour, Grouse Mtn., and Cypress Mtn. These all having skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer. Many tourists enjoy a day at Grouse Mtn., with its paralyzing view of the City and exhibits. We are a 10 minutes ride away. For those wanting to see the water up close, there are plenty of opportunities. The Seabus is a 10 minute ride away. It is a hovercraft that will take you from Lonsdale Quay Market, across Burrard Inlet to downtown Vancouver. There is a nice view of the harbour during this ride. We are on the "North Shore". If you are into boating, you can boat from Deep Cove, which is close by, through Indian Arm, which is beautiful. You can also boat from nearby Horseshoe Bay, or take the BC Ferry to Vancouver Island from there. In West Vancouver, also 10 minutes drive, there is a seawall walk, overlooking the Inlet with a distant view of Stanley Park and the University of British Columbia. The Sea to Sky Highway is a 2 hour ride to Whistler where the winter Olympics were last held. Shannon Falls is on the way there. Whistler is a beautiful village in winter or summer, with golf, (some glacier skiing in summer) and many restaurants. It is also close to a number of lakes for camping, canoeing, etc. If you are the woodsy hiking type, from our home you can walk along the banks of the Seymour River along the Baden Powell trail. It is a 10 minute car ride to the Seymour Demonstration Forest which also provides a nice hike, but with a paved path, unlike the Baden Powell trail. There are many restaurants on Lonsdale Street (near the Quay) and a few nice ones in Deep Cover. We are close to the Iron Workers Memorial Bridge which leads to the east side of the City, through Chinatown, and to the downtown.
A car is a definite plus from our home, but the walk to public transportation is nice if you are not in a hurry. The walk there is also along the river.
