Where you’ll be

Jorhat, Assam, India

The name Hazarika Enclave is derived from our ancestry. We are the descendents of Bagh Hazarika (Ismail Siddiqui) who was one of the officers working under Lachit Borphukan. Bagh Hazarika was instrumental in defeating the Mughal Army in Ithakhuli and Saraighat.

The area is a residential area. My Uncle (my father's brother-in-law) was the first to build a house in this area (opposite to Hazarika Enclave) in 1937. He retired as the first Indian Chief Engineer of Jorhat Tea Company.

My grandmother moved to this area with my Uncle from Dibrugarh in 1950 (after the famous earthquake and floods) followed by my father who returned from England in 1956 after serving the British Navy/Royal Navy for 13 years as a non-commissioned officer (Petty Officer).

The house on the North end of the campus is rented out by me to Goodricke Tea, one of the oldest tea companies of the world.

On the South End of the campus is my Uncle's house (my father's younger brother).

Most of the people in this locality are well educated. The 60+ families in the locality are all related by blood or marriage.
