Southern mansion 35 minutes to Tuscaloosa/University of Alabama. Beautiful antebellum home with tall ceilings, original woodwork, and replicas of the original carpet and drapes. This listing is for a bedroom with a private bath. This may be one of three in the main home or one of two in a renovated outbuilding. Visit our other listings for rooms with shared baths or to rent all 8 bedrooms/6.5 bathrooms.

We are also available for weddings, Hollywood productions, and other events.

The space
Architect David Rinehart Anthony designed Everhope to be Big, Bold, & Beautiful. A Gazette article stated “The simplistic yet graceful lines of Everhope make it one of the most beautiful plantation homes in Alabama." With original woodwork and curtains and carpet designed to replicate the originals, Everhope remains true to its roots but also has elegant modern updates. Everhope is on both the State of Alabama and National Registers of Historic Places.

You will have unlimited access to explore the grounds. Everhope's acreage is cross-fenced with peach, pecan, fig, persimmon, pear, pine, oak, cedar, and magnolia trees, as well as beautiful other shrubs and flowers.

A TV may be available if the pecan shelling house is not otherwise occupied, but we choose to mostly stay true to our 1850s roots and do not have TVs available otherwise. Fast, reliable internet in our neck of the woods is still just a dream, so no wi fi is available, though cell phones provide some connectivity, and the local library (about a 10 minute drive) is available for any data-intensive needs (can even access their internet from the parking lot!).

Evenings have been known to go late into the night on the 8 chair “rocking" porch. We can enable cook-outs or bonfires, too. If you desire one-of-a-kind and a chance to disconnect and unwind, this is your place!

On sold-out Alabama football weekends, we may have a hot southern breakfast for you (depends on game time and other factors!).

We can enable parking for 100+ cars, making it an ideal wedding and event location.

Where you’ll be

Eutaw, Alabama, United States

Eutaw is one of few places in the South with a large number of its original antebellum homes. Surrounded by three rivers, its unique location saved it from destruction by the Union armies during the Civil War, and it is now known for its architecture, boasting 27 antebellum structures on the National Register of Historic places, with more than 50 that qualify.

Its river borders also benefit the area, providing a solid agricultural base, which has helped gain Greene County a national reputation for some of the best hunting and fishing in the Southeast USA. We often host hunters here.

Everhope is 3.2 miles from interstate 20/59, providing convenient access to neighboring cities, such as Tuscaloosa and Demopolis. We are about 35 minutes away from the University of Alabama and thank the community for its ongoing support. RTR!

A large Love's truck stop is open at the Eutaw exit on I-20, providing excellent fast food options.

Roebuck’s Landing Restaurant and bait-shop, located on the river, is an easy 15 to 20 minute drive from Everhope.

Diamond Jim’s Steakhouse and the University of West Alabama are about 25 minutes away in Livingston.

Nick's in the Sticks, a steakhouse “institution” for the University of Alabama community, is about 25 mins away, just two turns from Everhope!

Greensboro, Marion, and Gainesville are all charming towns fairly close to Eutaw, rife with history and beautiful old southern homes and architecture.
