Calling all Texans! Cure your cabin fever while keeping a safe distance! A small cabin on 30 sprawling acres, Lovegrass was originally UT architect Wayne Bell's escape, his quiet place, his creative pied a terre. Now ours, the zen vibe of the updated interiors complements the tranquility of the untouched hill country that surrounds it. Lovegrass is a little house in the woods where you can fall in love -- with art, nature, the you you may have lost, the dark skies you may have forgotten.

The space
Lovegrass is tucked into a grove of trees in front of what used to be a large riding ring. Down the path to the right are the barn and stables, which will eventually house rescued donkeys available for adoption. Down the path to the left is the chicken coop, currently unoccupied, but not for long. If you venture out beyond the ring, the barn or the coop, you'll find a meandering 30 acres of trails covering a variety of terrain, from frostweed fields to open meadow to rocky terrace to wet weather creek bed. The property is open and raw and longing to be explored. Wildlife spotted so far: a family of foxes, a young bobcat, deer, owls, wild turkey, soaring hawks, scurrying lizards, fluttering butterflies, hovering dragonflies, busy bees, and while not yet seen, at night, somewhere in the distance, a pack of coyotes serenades the stars.

Guest access
Lovegrass House is all yours in its entirety for the duration of your stay. Additionally, all of the property is open for your exploration within reason -- ie, feel free to hike out beyond the perimeter of the main house, but please don't invade the space or privacy of the occupants. For as long as necessary, we are following CDC guidelines and recommendations for ongoing social distancing measures and best practices for cleaning and health safety.

Hi there! I’m an editor, a columnist, a blogger, a ghostwriter, a manager, a playwright, a reader, a roadtripper and a mother. My two beautiful boys have four legs and pee outside. I majored in literature and creative writing, with a minor and graduate work in screenwriting. After moving to Los Angeles, I studied playwriting with Scott Horstein, who dramaturged for Arthur Miller on Resurrection Blues, and screenwriting with DreamWorks senior story analyst Pilar Alessandra. My writing has appeared in papers such as the Austin-American Statesman, The Austin Chronicle, The Boston Globe and The Denver Post, onstage at South Coast Repertory, and is regularly featured online. I’ve enjoyed a 10-year career as a professional editor. Random 411: I wrote my first play when I was 8, a murder mystery starring my little brother in the critically acclaimed role of the cruel villain, Ebeneeezer. That’s right: three “e’s.” Current addiction: House of Cards Previous addiction: Breaking Bad Currently reading: Easy Riders/Raging Bulls, Beautiful Boy Just finished: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, Little Birds Current movie recommend: Chef Guilty pleasures: cookies, grilled cheese, New Orleans, long showers Things that make me want to do more, better, something: Best Friends Animal Society, Much Love Animal Rescue, CASA for Children, Sea Shepherd, people who cook Dirty little secret: I’m in the newspaper business but haven’t had to wash ink from my hands in years. Take-to-the-grave secret: my political affiliation. I edit right, left and center, so my political affiliation is none of my business. I divide my time unevenly between Joshua Tree, LA and Austin.
