Sonas ( Happiness in Gaelic) is a traditional stone cottage over 100 years old, lovingly restored with a cathedral ceiling in the bright living area. A handmade kitchen, bright double shower and WC. Can sleep 3 with double bedroom and single loft.
Come visit and unlock the myths and secrets of Ireland's ancient east, Kilkenny's chock-a-block with Medieval buildings, but to get your bearings, join one of kilke(URL HIDDEN) or I can give you highlights on a self guided tour.

The space

It is located in a the grounds of a traditional Irish Farmhouse, that is now beside a Stud Farm, it is 10 minutes from the famous Kilkenny city and 5 from the local pub in the beautiful village of Kells.

Guest access

There is free wifi, Flat Screen TV and DVD player, Stove with as much wood as you can burn and a small but funky kitchen to cater for yourselves. Also a private garden with swing and picnic table and bbq.

Interaction with guests

I live beside the cottage in the original farmhouse and will be there to welcome you to with some homemade bread, jam from our orchard and a piece of Kilkenny craft to bring away with you to remind of the Sonas or " hapiness" you found in Kilkenny.
There is a working stud farm across the road and depending on the time of year, you may see horses in training, foals in paddocks or crops being cut.

Other things to note

This is my first time sharing my home with visitors on Air B&B. I look forward to meeting new people and enjoying the experience as much as you do.

Cottage was located in a wonderful setting adjacent to working horse farm and grazing sheep. It is a nice quiet setting located about a 7 minute car drive from Kilkenny. Cottage was quite simple inside. The master bedroom mattress was in poor quality so we did not sleep too well. Cottage did not contain many food items, so guests will need to bring almost everything. Directions provided were not clear, so we had a frustrating time finding the location.

A lovely little stone cottage. Anne-Marie was a wonderful host who even happened to remove an unwanted little guest (spider) for us. We were put into a two bed cottage rather than the cottage with the loft which suited us fine. The cottage is quite difficult to find, if Anne-Marie had not been in and able to come and meet us I really doubt we would have been able to find it ourselves. The mattresses felt quite old and you could feel all of the springs which made for a slightly uncomfortable sleep. That was really the only negative to this place. The area is beautiful and it's a very close drive into Kilkenny. Anne-Marie was also very quick to answer any questions we had. Overall a lovely place to stay.

Much more than a host... The place it so quiet and peaceful, the landscape is nice for walking specially in the sunset. The house has big windows, the garden looks to a field with horses, very comfortable, just what we needed. Anne Marie will help you in anything you may need, she take care for us like part of her family. We are grateful.

The location is nice : close to Kilkenny and yet lost in the countryside... BUT it was a disappointment. It lacks the comfort we expected of a place with this price. The house was dusty, and as I suffer from allergies, I had a hard time. The bathroom was flooded every time one of us took a shower. The vitro-ceramic stove was shattered, the two frying pans were out of use... We stayed at 6 different places this month, and this one was our only unpleasant experience.

Lovely location and host seems very nice but the cottage is very small and could do with a spring clean and a new couch!

We had such an amazing time staying there. We felt at completely at home. Ann-Marie was very busy and still made us feel very welcome. It was a bit difficult to find but very well worth finding. I'm definitely going back.
