Our home is a lovingly renovated weatherboard property, retaining the 1950's features characteristic of Maydena, but with all the modern conveniences you'd expect to make your stay amazing.

Enjoy sun filled bedrooms and living areas with views of our beautiful private garden and the mountains beyond from every window.

We're located a two minute walk from Maydena Bike Park, at the gateway to adventure in the Tasmanian Wilderness.

We'd love to welcome you to our place!

The space
Our house is fully insulated, has a powerful split system to maintain a cosy atmosphere on cooler nights, and is equipped with air purification. If you're here in winter then fire wood is provided so that you can use the wonderfully warming wood heater. Red wine strongly recommended, though not mandatory.

The master bedroom has a Queen size bed and Ecosa mattress, with beautiful garden views. The second bedroom also has a Queen size bed and both have storage space. The third has two Extra Long Single beds.

The kitchen features a huge fridge, dishwasher, cooktop, oven and microwave, and is fully furnished with all manner of cooking equipment including basic herbs and spices, oil etc.

Full laundry amenities include a brand new washing machine, dryer, and an outdoor clothesline. A newly installed eco-friendly hot water system ensures hot water for well-deserved post adventure showers.

If you're here to ride, at the Bike Park or otherwise (Maydena is surrounded by incredible gravel roads), our large garage has a dedicated workshop space complete with basic tools, providing the perfect area to un-pack and carefully rebuild your pride and joy. There's also space to stash helmets and shoes, and an area to store and securely lock bikes.

A single off-street parking space is available at the rear of the property.

We have recently added a barbecue to our listing, and ask that guests clean it prior to departure, if used. Non-cleaning will attract a $30 cost.

Late check-outs on the day of departure may be arranged during your stay, but are subject to our cleaner’s schedule. Such requests, where possible, will incur a flat rate of $75 with checkout at 4PM at the latest.

Where you’ll be

Maydena, Tasmania, Australia

Maydena's appeal lies in its remoteness, and for this reason we strongly recommend shopping for groceries for the duration of your stay at the nearest supermarket, Woolworths in New Norfolk, close by the BWS Bottle Shop.

The Mountain Cafe (first building on the left as you enter town), is a short walk from the house and stocks basic items (think snacks, milk and cold drinks). They also do fuel if you're thinking of heading further into the wilderness.

For dinner, the Bike Park closes at varying times and it's a good idea to call ahead to avoid disappointment. Giant's Table (also a few minutes walk down Junee Road) opens for dinner until early evening and does great pub food. Lastly, The National Park Hotel, around a ten minute drive back towards Hobart offers a great dinner menu.

We moved here for the jaw-dropping hikes as much as anything and some of Tasmania's best start just down the road at Mount Field National Park. There you'll find an array of walks to suit all abilities and time constraints, and the wonderful staff are always more than happy to talk you through which would be best suited.

After a beautiful hour's drive west you'll find yourself in Strathgordon, and the huge man-made lakes that surround it. We'd highly recommend checking out the Gordon Dam (even if you are afraid of heights!).

Let us know if you'd like any further tips and advice on the local area and we'd be more than happy to accommodate.

I'm originally from the UK and now live in Tasmania, having moved to Australia in 2015. I'm a big fan of travel, bikes and good food - not necessarily in that order.
