The space
A welcoming hostel spirit animates the property (as some guests have commented), but The Plumeria is a step above a conventional hostel: All bedrooms are private and furnished with the basics and share a common kitchen and bathroom with 2-3 other rooms. The Plumeria hosts a weekly Free-Food-BYOB BBQ (weather permitting) for residents and guests alike.

The Plumeria is a property nestled under a variety of native trees and tucked within a security fence covered with flowering bougainvillea vines – midway between Waikiki and downtown Honolulu. The buildings are the original 1950's construction, with some minor remodeling and fixture upgrades done in the '80s. There are 3 buildings on the property consisting of shared apartment units and private studios.

The neighborhood is located in central Honolulu which occasionally has high automobile and foot traffic. Very convenient location, about 2 mins walk to 24 hour Safeway, and Famous Local restaurant ZIPPY'S. 15 mins walking distance to Ala Moana shopping mall. Waikiki and downtown is about a 15min drive or a 20 min bus ride.
