Fish Cottage is a wonderful base to visit Devon and Cornwall. We were greeted with devon scones and a bottle of wine which we enjoyed in the beautiful cottage garden on arrival. The cottage was everything we needed and spacious enough for (at times) 4 adults and a dog. I say a…

Michael and Julie are very thoughtful and generous hosts. Fish cottage is a charming place to stay with everything you need, a lovely garden where we had breakfast and saw a tiny frog and two dragonflies. There are plenty of quiet places to read and enjoy time to unwind. There ar…

A special gem in the middle of Devon, very quiet and relaxing, private garden with vegetables to pick. Clean, historical, close to train station, but the roads to and from are narrow if you are not used to them. Not touristy, but hiking trails are all around. Couple good places t…

Response from Michael:
Just a quick note on distance from amenities. Eggesford station is a walk away - with links to Barnstaple and the city of Exeter, the local towns of Chulmleigh and Winkleigh - with pubs and shops, are a 10 minute drive.

Julie and I love returning to the Devonshire countryside to relax and have fun away from the big city of New York where we live part of our time. My roots are in Devon and I love to fish the local rivers and explore the North Devon countryside just as I did as a boy. The river Ta…
