Couldn't have asked for a better living situation to end my time in Austin before moving back to CA. The family was incredibly kind and welcoming. I stayed for a month and left inspired by their sustainable and resourceful lifestyle, balanced by an appreciation for vibrant colors, art, and sheer ingenuity. Their back house was very comfortable and charming, and I enjoyed sitting outside at the table in the beautiful backyard / garden area - with view of chickens and cute outdoor kitten! They also reserved a room inside of the house with a couch and a desk, which was stellar for getting work done.

Sarah and her husband were excellent hosts who greeted us warmly and made us feel very welcome in their home. The neighborhood was beautiful and quiet but just a short bus or bike ride to the downtown Austin attractions and UT. The Hermitage was a beautiful "retreat" space surrounded by a lush green garden. Everything was as described and Sarah was full of helpful information and recommendations for things to do and see and how to get around town. Having breakfast was a great treat! The food was wonderful - especially the custom prepared to order meal in the garden on the weekend. We'd gladly stay their again on out next visit to Austin.

My stay at The Hermitage was fantastic. The space is very comfortable. It is located in a nice and quiet neighborhood, but you can get everything you need at a walkable distance. If you want to go to downtown or to another part of the city, there is a bus stop really close. Sarah and Chris are really fantastic hosts, they try their best to make you feel at home during your stay and they help you with any question or problem that you may have during your stay. They are nice people to talk with and they will respect your privacy. It was my first experience with Airbnb and it was really inspiring!

I loved staying at The Hermitage and Sarah was a wonderful host. The house is beautiful, with everything you might need for a comfortable stay, situated in a lovely, leafy, quiet residential area. I really appreciated being provided with breakfast and a bike. It was great to be able to explore the local area by cycling. Though it was also very easy to take a 20 minute bus to Downtown. I would not hesitate in recommending Sarah & the property and hope to stay again myself next time I visit Austin.

A little quaint cottage secluded in a backyard patio in a quiet, but community-like atmosphere... This is one of the best airbnb experiences I have had to date, and it will certainly be hard to top. Sarah and Chris make sure that every detail is taken care of, including a quite luxurious breakfast each day. Austin is seeming to have a rainy spell, so Sarah left me an umbrella, which was super appreciated. Also, there is an awesome bakery close by, and Sarah loaned me a coffee mug to get a refill price. They were very interesting to talk to. I'm moving to Austin (hence this trip), so I likely won't be staying here again, but I look forward to seeing them again, and when my parents come to town, I will certainly suggest that they stay here!

We loved staying at the Hermitage! The space is very charming and comfortable - it's like a private, spacious one-room cottage nestled in Sarah's beautiful backyard. The neighborhood is quiet and residential, and also walking distance from a bunch of things to do, including a great bakery, restaurants, and a grocery store. It's also very close to a bus line; it was a perfect location for us during our stay. We got in late at night but Sarah had provided helpful instructions and notes so we were able to easily find our way to the Hermitage and make ourselves at home. Sarah is a great host and the breakfast she provided was delicious (with a variety of options to choose from, including awesome migas on Sunday morning). We really enjoyed talking with her over breakfast and we would love to stay here again next time we're in Austin!

I am an artisan working with reclaimed textiles and my husband, Chris, teaches special ed. We have a twelve year old son into sports and Magic the Gathering. We love living where we can walk, bike or bus to most anything. We are active, community minded people with a history of welcoming many diverse people into our home. We appreciate old things with soul and arts and crafts. We have chickens, subscribe to a CSA, shop at the coop, collect rain water, line dry our clothes, hand dry our dishes and power our home with solar panels! Hopefully all those details give you an idea what kind of people we are. Whether you are coming to visit family, attend a wedding or hear some great music, we look forward to hosting you and helping you experience Austin.
