Relax in a beautiful mountain setting at this 4-season ski house within walking distance of the slopes at Otis Ridge Ski Area (the best ski area south of the Vermont border). In fact, the back-yard (actually a meadow full of wildlife and flowers) used to be part of the ski area and there are still remnants of the rope-tow on the edge of the property. The long-range views off the back porch are fantastic.

The space
This house has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a pull-out couch in the living room, and an electric air mattress to sleep up to 7 people. There is a large deck with half of it covered and screened in. Enjoy a warm fire in the living room or a soak in a new 7-person Artesian Spas Grand Cayman hot tub with all the bells and whistles down on a stone patio overlooking the meadow. If you're looking for relaxation, this place and surrounding area can't be beat. Tons of great hiking, numerous lakes, and other attractions like the town of Great Barrington (20 minutes away), Tanglewood, and Jacob's Pillow are just a short scenic drive away.

This house works best as a family retreat or a romantic getaway for couples. It does not work as a place to have large or loud parties as it is located within a quiet neighborhood and has new hard-wood floors. If you are considerate of other people's property, I would love to host your stay and share why my family grew up skiing Otis and why it is the best place to ski on a powder day, or just relax in nature any time of the year.

The house is located in a quiet mountain community on the flanks of Otis Ridge Ski Area (hands-down the best ski area south of the Vermont border). I've skied in the Alps and Alaska, grew up skiing Vermont, and lived in Lake Tahoe and the foot of Mt. Hood, and I would still rather be at Otis Ridge on a powder day. It's a great place to bring a family because you can park close to the slopes and your kids will always ski past the ski lodge every 10 minutes or so, but there is also challenging terrain, especially in the "unofficial" glades. I've had a season pass here for the last 9 years and my kids learned to ski here. It's a small slice of a much bigger mountain.

Lars is a high school biology and chemistry teacher who loves his children, skiing, and is getting into kite surfing. Kristen is his wife, teaches electronic engineering at a community college, loves wind surfing, and is getting into skiing. They have owned this converted barn since 2003 but didn't start renting it out as a vacation home until a few years ago. So far, all of their experiences renting the home have been positive and have enjoyed getting to know a lot of interesting people. As hosts, they will be helpful with any questions you have (you can call them day or night), but will leave you to enjoy your experience in peace.
