Enjoy sunsets from the deck up at the house or at lakeside. There's nothing better than lounging in the red chairs under the stars, toasting marshmallows in the fire pit and telling a tall tale or two.
A stroll on the lakeside road is a lovely in either direction.
For a nice little hike in the woods, there is also a beautiful trail nearby. Look for the waterfalls!

I loved this house. Neat, clean and plenty of room. It’s in a great location, with a nice view of the lake. Nice dock and shoreline with good depth for boats. The road in front of the house is very quiet. I wish I could have a stayed a few more days. Thanks Holly, we hope …

We had a great stay at Cottage Atwater! The house was comfortable and cozy, with great views and lots of room. The location is secluded and quiet. Holly was a great communicator (before, during, after) and provided everything you could need for ease and comfort -- e.g., extra …

Again, thank you both for being such amazing guests. Thank you also for the heads up about your confusion re: the location of the waterfront in terms of the house. Since the front of the house actually faces away from the lake, that angle has always seemed like Cottage Atwater's "best side!" In this area, most of the lakefront properties are reached by driving down a back road up on the ridge to the house and then gaining access to the waterfront by walking down a long, steep wooden staircase to the dock. We fell in love with this place for the fact that this is one of the few properties where the house and the dock can be reached directly from the lake road itself. To get to the lake, all you have to do is walk down the driveway. By the way, the reason why the gravel lake road is so narrow is that it was once a train track that ran up the east side of the lake. It's hard to believe now, but long ago, the intersection of the lake road and the road leading down to it was once a bustling center of shipping and commerce. I appreciate your comments and have altered the description in my listing profile to remedy any inaccuracy.

The cottage is by the lake. There is a least traveled gravel road between cottage and the lake, but we witnessed no car traveling the road during the stay. The house is well equipped with beds, towels, TV with ROKU, speakers, blankets, kitchen utensils, coffee makers and coffee p…

I would like to thank the host Holly for a wonderful long-weekend stay at her cottage. I went with my Son and Nephew for a fishing weekend on Cayuga. Note, the firelane that the cottage is on is a tricky place to turn the boat around and the driveway is a steep walk, but that sai…

Holly took the time to meet my group (even though we were a bit late and she had to drive far to get home) and showed us around the property. I'm very thankful she made the extra effort as a host. And what an amazing property it was - with spectacular views of Lake Cayuga! It was…

In 1978, my parents just happened to discover a rustic and charming hunting cabin in the woods on Lake Cayuga. Ever since then, the area has held a special place in my heart. Many years later, my husband and I bought our own place just up the road. In the Spring, Summer and Fall,…
