A warm private twin/double room in a peaceful location with lovely country views. A comfortable place to relax and explore the coast, Dartmoor & the alternative culture of Totnes (4km). Shared Facilities inc large yoga/meditation room. With access to our secluded garden.

The space

Situated in a secluded garden with it’s own entrance from the Devon lane and adjacent the open countryside, the timber chalet has an unusual and beautiful design, with stained glass, interestingly shaped windows, wooden floors and walls in natural oil finish
Sitting comfortably in the large lounge/diner, looking over the Dart valley towards Dartmoor and at Hood Ball (one of the local hills, an ancient volcanic plug), visitors report feeling touched by a sense of relaxation and peace. '
The rest of the accommodation comprises: a galley style kitchen, a bathroom with a lovely shower and a double and a twin bedroom.
We use oxygen based water treatment. We have our own borehole water supply which is UV treated (and so unchlorinated) and really delicious to drink.

Olivia and her family had just left for their own holiday but we had frequent communication via messaging etc so we felt she was really putting herself out on her holiday to make sure we were ok. We were in the cottage not the cabin. It was very nice to have the use of a well equipped kitchen with all the extra bits and pieces that you find in homes rather than holiday accommodation, and in other respects it was clear that this was the host's home with a friendly country atmosphere, including 3 cats.

We had a lovely time. Olivia and her partner were very welcoming, but also happy to let us do out own thing. When you arrive it is immediately obvious that they have created a warm and peaceful home. The chalet is entirely wood cladded, with large windows facing the Devon hills. It's spacious, and well equipped — we loved the kitchen! You'll be comfortable, and maybe even a little inspired. Oh! And there's a cat :) We spent most of our time walking in Dartmoor, but nearby Totnes is pretty fun, has some good restaurants, and a very lively pub near the top of the high street. Woods, moorland, coast and estuary, what a beautiful part of the world! You should definitely stay.

The accommodation is pleasant but to fully enjoy the rural haven you really want to ensure you rent the whole building as walls are thin.

Response from Olivia:
Hi Kate I am sorry you didn't receive the privacy you needed. Our friends were in between homes and needing a place to stay for a few weeks . Your booking had been made before they arrived here and they had agreed to keep the place clean for you (inc the bathroom ) and to minimise any noise so you wouldn't be too affected by their presence. In a way it was probably an unrealistic expectation on my part. Anyhow they will move out on the 11th of November and our place will be back to its peaceful oasis nature again. Olivia

We had a lovely time staying at Olivia's cosy chalet. the location is very convenient as we could easily walk to Dartington and to Tones - a beautiful walk picking berries! There is also the lovely Riverside farm around the corner. Chris very nicely picked us up at the station the night we arrived! We will recommend the place to our friends.

Thanks Olivia and Chris. Our stay was very relaxing. The beds in the twin room were really comfortable and the chalet had a lovely relaxed feel to it. We went out exploring most days so didn't really get a chance to meet our hosts properly, but when we did see them, they were very nice and helpful. To the point my mother had forgotten her cardigan when we left and Olivia was very quick to spot this and post back to her. As we were out all day we didn't use the communal room or kitchen much, except for quick coffees and breakfast, but it was good to know that when we returned from our rainy days out, the chalet was warm, cosy and again the beds above all were comfortable! We slept really well!! Again cosy, relaxing and nice little chalet.

A really cosy and tranquil room with a very spacious communal living area and well appointed kitchenette. The chalets are well situated within walking distance of Dartington and Staverton, and just around the corner from the Steiner School where I was taking a summer course. My busy schedule meant that Olivia and I never actually met face to face but he rmessages were very helpful and attentive and I felt very well looked after. Compared to other b&bs in this area the room rate is really good value.
