Come enjoy the best of the Westcoast. The Bear Den is 1 of 5 remote off grid private oceanfront huts at Mussel Beach Private Getaway. The Bear Den sits at the end of Mussel Beach Private Getaway on it own large private site. Enjoy the view and sounds of the ocean from the large deck. Explore the private beach full of tidal pools . The entire hut is run on solar and propane giving you the total off grid experience. Turn a place to stay into an experience that will be remembered.

The space
The Bear Den is a 10 X12 one level hut with a queen size bed and small dinette set. It has solar powered lights and deisel heater for chilly days. It comes with a fully stocked outside kitchen and your own private very clean outhouse. You kitchen will come with drinking and wash water . The kitchen also comes with a cooler ,freezer packs , camp stove ,BBQ along with all your other basic kitchen needs. Enjoy the view on a 8 x 10 covered deck . We do not allow wood fires but have an option to rent a propane firepit and tank for an extra fee to make your evenings cozy. You will also have free access to the campground cedar showers.

Guest access
You are free to roam the area within Mussel Beach Private area, although we ask you do not enter other guests private sites. Also enjoy the long stretch of beach with lots to see. Free access to our public showers.

Other things to note
Due to our remote location and wildlife , we are limited on how much garbage we can take. We do not accept any garbage or recyclables so be prepared to pack them out with you. We can provide extra bags for you to take out your recyclables and garbage. We share our space with lots of wildlife and adhere to the Bare Aware Program.

We share our space with the wildlife including bears, wolfs and cougars. Mussel Beach is a great place to view wildlife in its natural setting. With this privilege come responsibility to protect the wildlife. Thank you for your cooperation.

Please be aware we are off a 8km gravel road, a 4x4 is not required but a vehicle with some clearance is recommended.

The key attraction at Mussel Beach is the wildlife and relaxation . Also we are close to The Pacific Rim Park and the miles of beaches with in the park. There is also lots of hiking in the area along with wild life tours, fishing charter and of course surfing. Mt Ozzard is 4km away with mountain biking trails. Tofino and Ucluelet have great restaurants and small shops . Both towns have a Grocery Store , Pharmacy and gas stations for basic needs. Please note: If you do want to easy access to restaurants and shopping or daily trips to the park ,some guests find our location a bit far.

My husband Curtis and I run a Wilderness campground during the summer season on Vancouver Island . We live in an off grid cabin within the campground and enjoy sharing our little piece of paradise with our guest. We have 5 grown children and 3 grandchildren. In the off season we enjoy traveling . We prefer road trips and like to book as we go so we are free to change our plans as opportunities arise. We enjoy getting to know people along the way and experiencing different ways of life. We are "stop and smell the roses" kind of people.
