2 very central interconnected Regency apartments (3/2 or up to 5 people) effectively for the price of 1 - so couples can enjoy quality time AND have friends staying independently next door PLUS seaview + spa with jacuzzi steam (small surcharge if 3 bathrooms taken up)! 'Home away' withBilliard, stone's throw away from Brighton's beach, unique shops and nightlife.

The space

Enjoy the central location with whirlpool to relax from all the buzz around you outside! In our place you can even cook while your kids or friends still play on the beach. All-inclusive rates (no cleaning fees) for up to 5 people - ideal for couples, a group of friends or larger families appreciating the independence of two interconnected apartments.

Relaxing, compact apartment(s) with direct seaview, brand new 'home away', offering plenty of activities in- and outside, with the beach or an inspiring range of boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants, pubs, cafes, newsagents, supermarket all only a stone's throw away.

Large south-east facing bay window with further dual aspect so sunny all around. Pine floors, flatscreen TVs, dvd player, dock station speakers and lots of games including a pool / table tennis table stored away in a corner.

There are two separate bedrooms / apartments- one currently laid out with a kingsize bed on a mezzanine and sofa underneath as a compact studio with kitchenette and ensuite (West part: 2 people), the other one with a firm memory foam mattress bed, separated by an elegant folding door from the lounge which contains an additional sofa bed for one person (South East part: up to 3 people). This part' also comes with a fully equipped compact kitchen (fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, ceramic hob, espresso machine, kettle, toaster, oven and microwave).

All bathrooms have massage or rain showers, and towels and bedsheets are 100% Egyptian cotton with real feather duvets. Central gas heat warms everything up including instant hot water.

Also suitable for people with restricted mobility due to ground floor level with easy access from the street but unfortunately not meeting lifetime home standards. Without blue badge car is not recommended due to parking restrictions or high costs in city centre location - Regency Square car park is best price nearby.

Guest access

The heart of Brighton with its extensive nightlife, a range of theatres, all sorts of restaurants and the Pier are all a (sophisticated) stone's throw away, and there are plenty of scenic walks along the promenade, the beach and a well equipped playgound with a kids' pool and water jets just 2 minutes away!

There is metered parking outside of the house but the adjacent car parks offer more competitive daily rates. We do not recommend coming by car but another option may be park and ride from Wilson Avenue or Whitehawk Way which is about a 10 minutes taxi ride.

The South East England region

Sussex nestles on the rolling chalk hills of the South Downs National Part and along the English south coast. It is one of the sunniest places in the country! Its 80 miles of coastline means there are super beaches for the family and groups of friends. Inland you will find the characteristic English idyll of quaint villages with flint walled, thatched cottages with lovely gardens come to life. You will find in its abundance history and heritage, castles, abbeys, priories, stately homes and historic houses. There are family amusement parks and wildlife centres, museums of bygones and steam railways.

Walkers and outdoor enthusiasts will love the varied paths and bridleways and should not leave without having walked, cycled or ridden on horseback along the superb, scenic South Downs Way; taking in the majestic white cliffs at Beachy Head or its highest point at Blackdown.

Sussex boasts many cultural centres such as Brighton and Chichester to 'kiss me quick' seaside resorts of Hastings and Bognor Regis to splendid isolation such as Ashdown Forest where Winnie the Pooh played 'Pooh Sticks'.

Sussex will always lead you back to the sea where Brighton is the highlight along its coast. This city sometimes called London-by-the Sea will never fail to disappoint with its bustling nightlife, unique lifestyles, cultural and artistic and sporting traditions.

Brighton and Hove

Brighton is the vibrant cultural centre of the South coast, and is regularly called the gay capital with its open-minded and liberal take on life. This is exemplified by the Prince Regent - well known for his decadent and playful lifestyle for whom the masterpiece, the Pavillion, was built. The narrow throughfares and 'twittens' that characterise the area were built to the original medieval town plan. Explore Brighton's history at the Fishing Museum and cultural quarter where the city's museum can be found.

A stroll out to sea will take you on Brighton's last remaining pier - one of Britains most visited free attractions, or take a ride on the Volks – England's oldest electric railway with the halfway station just a few steps down from Brighton Bijou. In summer open top buses are one of the best ways to see Brighton and the surrounding South Downs National Park.

ARTS & CULTURE

Brighton is home to artists, designers, writers, pop stars, actors and creative people of all kinds. Perhaps that's why the arts are so much part of everyday life here. Just walking round you will see art and sculpture on the street and beachfront, and there are galleries and studios showing up-and-coming work by local talent. Brighton is home to many street artists' work either commissioned or less 'unofficial' for those seeking a more urban feel.

In May you will catch the annual Brighton Festival and Fringe, which takes over the city as the biggest arts fiesta in England. For four weeks, tens of thousands of people come to see hundreds of events from contemporary dance and lunchtime recitals to street theatre performances and artists' open houses. The Great Escape runs at the same time and has now become a firm favourite with new music afficionados of all styles. Throughout the year there are festivals of jazz, dance and animated theatre, heritage weekends, plays, live music, opera, fringe theatre, cinema, comedy and cabaret - come in October to catch the spectacular White Night Festival and in December the Burning of the Clocks Parade - just two of our favourites.

Just out of Brighton you will find Glyndebourne for opera lovers and the Charleston Book festival.

We being a family of 5 rented the entire flat, and even though we didn't spend a lot of time there, the time we did was comfortable. The spa shower is a delight after a long day Bernd was there whenever we contacted him, when we couldn't figure out the lockbox and when we didn't have hot water. He had it fix within the hour....thank you Perfect location for our needs, no more then a couple of blocks from the water and night life.

After staying at many different hotels in Brighton I thought it's time to try airbnb. My mother, brother, boyfriend and I stayed at Bernd's flat for three nights. Although it's actually smaller than expected, it's enough space for four people. We loved the spa shower thingy and I could've stayed in it forever. Since we arrived around midnight, Bernd wasn't there to give us the keys, but there was a key box and as we were unlocking the doors Bernd texted me to make sure everything was okay. In the flat we found a book with all the descriptions for warm water etc - big plus! Unfortunately the heating and warm water stopped working one morning, but Bernd made his way all across town to fix it as soon as possible. Another big plus was the location of the flat. It's - as described - only a few steps away from the beach and the Churchill Square shopping center is only a stone throw away. Check-out was good too, as we only had to throw bed linens and towels on the floor. After we left left, Bernd even texted me to say thanks for leaving the flat in a great condition. So all in all I'd say we had a superb stay and I for my next travels to Brighton I'll definitely will get back to Bernd.

Response from Bernd:
Thanks a lot, Kim, great to hear about the fun you had at Cannon Spa and at Brighton's tattoo convention. Just to say we usually have instant hot water (gas central heating) in our three bathrooms (and I was there within one hour to fix a minor problem) so need for descriptions. Cannon Spa is made up of two wings for parties up to five people with one smaller and one larger living space (plus separate sleeping areas) - so great for those who also enjoy some quality time as couples or threesomes in their own 'living space'.

Bernd was so welcoming and friendly, showing us around his lovely apartment. The facilities were very nice and the place was very homely. However, the best part of staying at this apartment was its fantastic location: being so close to the beach and the Lanes etc.

We had an absolutely super stay. The flat is excellent, and was just a stone's throw away from the sea, Churchill Square and the Brighton Centre. Facilities were extensive for a small flat- and the spa bath is out of this world! We would have loved to stay longer, and would certainly recommend this flat to others.

Response from Bernd:
Thank you Dave, I'm glad that we could host you and that you enjoyed the 'extensive' facilities. A long day at the conference followed by our spa bath is just the kind of luxury that we like to offer. See you next time the conference is in town or you want to spend quality time seconds from the beach with family and friends.

Very central location. Well equipped with essentials and some luxuries like the espresso machine and spa - the younger generation enjoyed this enormously. There was tea and coffee available as well as things like seasoning and bin liners. Bernd responded promptly to questions pre and post arrival and was there to greet us and the personal sign to welcome us was a nice touch. Not recommended for those driving to Brighton not least due to the exorbitant parking charges. There is free parking on the outskirts of the city where we left the car for two of our three days. There is a lot crammed in to the two 'apartments' which we would describe more as studios. For five adults it was tight and getting to things we were constantly having to move things and move around each other. The descriptions seem rather grandiose to us - 'wings', 'Cannon Spa'. As a previous reviewer noted some of the fittings were pretty DIY. Bernd gave us use of the spa without the additional charge though need to note there is not another toilet in the spa room and there would have been a £10 charge to open up the other bath room as we had been given free use of the spa. The Egyptian cotton sheets and towels were not, in my view, as described. The sea view is of the sea between the houses at the end of the street looking through the side of the bay window. In spite of the weather, torrential rain almost all of the time we were there, we had a lovely time.

Bernd was very flexible, letting us pick up the keys early and leave our bags at the flat in the afternoon, and he was very quick to answer messages. However, there are currenty some undisclosed policies - we only discovered on arrival that we were to have one en suite not two, as we were renting the apartments for less than a week (he did open the second one for us though on request). The flats are very small but use space well (lots of sofa beds and minimal storage space) so we felt quite comfortable after a day or so - and once we bought some earplugs to counter the single glazing (lots of people talking outside at night and of course the seagulls!) This property is ideal for people who want to be central and next to the sea for a reasonable rate - and don't mind sofa beds!

My dream has always been to live by the sea and have a half-decent job, and I have achieved it in Brighton (due to its proximity to London). When I can, I love to stay in this property myself.
