Excellent stay at Seeker's Hive. Vijay and Jay are incredibly welcoming, always willing to share recommendations. The accommodations were clean, simple, and had everything we needed. There's no AC, which wasn't a problem in Jan with windows open and fan on. The location was conve…

Great and clean rooms. Vijay and Jay really did everything to let you feel welcome. It is more of a room with an kitchenarea outside. The communication beforehand was very good.

Aloha Kim, Thank you for the review. I am glad that you found the communications were good before your arrival. Since the previous guest left early, I got up early to get the place ready and accommodate much before the arrival time without the early check in fee. The kitchen comes with everything that one can think of along with other perks like coolers, ice packs, beach umbrella and body boards just to name a few. The pergola – the large eating place has tables and chairs to eat chill/grill/watch stars or just enjoy the quiet place and garden. OURS is much more than what local hotels provide, leave alone the exorbitant price – YES THEY OFFER JUST A CRUMY ROOM – NOTHING ELSE UNLIKE US.

Exactly as advertised. Beautiful location, definitely a lot out of the way if you don't have a car. The wifi didn't seem to work the entire time but the TV works fine. My friends and I got the mahini suite, which has two rooms joined in the middle by a bathroom. And speaking of t…

Aloha Kaleah, Thank you for the review. I feel compelled to clarify few things: We would have greatly appreciated if you had written your experience rathar than being influenced by one other person's previous review. Is there any where in the world that you can go on foot especially a tourist place without a car? Some of the countries in Europe have excellent public transport, still one need to use a private vehicle to get to some places. So I really do not understand that we are way out there; we are about 500 feet from the road. Again, wifi though sporadic, works just fine. Hawaii is rural. Proof is I am using it right now. We had international guests to whom I was using my phone to show directions in your presence. Our description clearly tells you to bring your own internet access on the go or use your phone data, simply because Hawaii does not provide high speed internet like other states in the mainland. Your friend is local and he can vouch for that. So no use beating a dead horse. This is our home and not a hotel. We did not advertise as soundproof hotel. The truth of the fact is, I was sent an email by the other guests whose phone does not work in USA, had to wake me up because they could not sleep due to you guys having a good time. I did come there (we live next door) but out of modesty and politeness though we have a request for quiet time, I did not say anything and you guys had moved to your rooms from the eating place pergola. The cost of each room was $34.50. I think you told my husband that we were the most affordable rentals that is modern, new and with ample amenities that it is amazing with the high cost of living in Hawaii we offer this wonderful home to our guests at a very very reasonable price. You had mentioned in your earlier correspondence that your friends' boyfriend snores; hence I cannot help in that area of hearing the sound from next door. Fridge: We have a 16.5 c.ft which is a courtsey on us for the guests to use while they are here and while on transit. This is quite enough if a whole pack of water and other beverages are not put there taking too much space and use it wisely for daily use. Infact, you were reading the house keeping to your friend and stalked all the groceries in the fridge while I was there folding laundry hence it is unbelievable to read some of the things mentioned in your review. We were happy to host you and your friends; we will do so again. Best regards.

I have a mixed review of this place. Pros: The owners were very nice and the facilities are nice and new. The location is close to Volcanoes National Park and not far from Hilo. The other side of the island, including Kona, is about 2 hours away. Cons: The road to the property is…

Theresa, Please read reviews of others before you and while you were here. We never knew you had so much discontent during your stay here. We for one could never have guessed it from the raving appreciation your husband had for our facility, amenities and how well his stay was going at our location. If you had mentioned these concerns while you were here, we could have helped alleviate some but not all of these issues. We replaced the batteries on the same day when you had problems, but we have no control over the (more than usual) storm systems that we had this Summer and the brief outage it caused on the dish network. Most of Hawaii(the Big Island) as you know is a rural. Folks who stay with us in fact enjoy the sometime call of the rooster and the croaking of the coqui frogs. They say it is a welcome relief from the motor vehicles screeching and other city noises. You also realize that Hawaii has one of the highest rates for electricity. If we were to provide A/C to the rooms it would almost double the room rent for you. We would like to keep the rent affordable. Overhead fans provide a good relief on hot days. All the main roads are paved. Orchidland drive is also paved. The 36 Avenue where you have to drive about 200 yards to reach our location is a gravel road that is periodically repaired and maintained by the local association and by us. It is unthinkable for us to imagine that some one would steal your coffee. If you had brought this to our attention, we would have gladly replaced your stolen coffee. The local markets carry Kona, Kau and Hilo coffee. Thank for your candor.
