Nestled on the edge of the Kibale Rainforest, Apiary Farmstead sits quietly off the grid among crater lakes and spectacular views. A comfortable eco-lodge for a relaxing retreat, an escape from the city or a sight-seeing tour of the volcano region. Your stay at the cottage will help support our project, Enjojo Farms: a conservation drive to reduce human-wildlife conflict and promote sustainable beekeeping practices. Taste our honey, listen to the chimps and tell stories by the campfire!

The space
Our headquarters is on a working farm and apiary. We use solar power and rainwater collection to reduce our impact and grow what we can for food. There are fire pits, hammock areas, gym equipment, viewing deck overlooking both the savannah and the rainforest and secluded spots dotted around the 1.5 acres.

Where you’ll be

Fort Portal, Western Region, Uganda

Local food markets are available, offering fresh fruits and vegetables. Fort Portal is roughly 30 mins away for everything else (deliveries can be arranged) and there are many lodges in the region with open restaurants. Some fruit, vegetables and honey available from our farm, depending on seasonal variation. A reliable tour company operates ten minutes from the property and can be contacted in advance.

On foot, you can visit the village to see the community and witness the local way of life.

Other nearby sights to see are the beautiful crater lakes and rich local wildlife including birds, baboons, and sometimes chimps and forest elephants wandering around the neighborhood.

I run a beekeeping-related conservation project on the edge of the rainforest in Uganda. Our guests will be directly contributing to the conservation efforts of our team, and will help keep the project alive! We offer space for free spirits and curious travellers to overlook the rainforest and savannah from our spot on the hill. Make yourselves at home and be as much or as little involved as you like.
