Nestled on the edge of the Kibale Rainforest, Apiary Cottage sits quietly off the grid among crater lakes and spectacular views. A comfortable eco-lodge for a relaxing retreat, a weekend escape from the city or a sigh-seeing tour of the volcano region. Your stay at the cottage will help support the Enjojo Farms project: a conservation drive to reduce human-wildlife conflict and promote sustainable beekeeping practices. Taste our honey, listen to the chimps and tell stories by the campfire!

The space
Our headquarters is on a working farm and apiary. We use solar power and rainwater collection to reduce our impact and grow what we can for food. We also offer beekeeping training, conservation workshops and local tours for people on a budget.

Guest access
We have a single and twin room, depending on your needs. Guests are welcome to use the shared kitchen or purchase meals from our staff. There are fire pits, hammock areas and secluded spots dotted over the 1.5 acres.

Location

Fort Portal, Western Region, Uganda

Local food markets are available, limited to basic fruits and vegetables. Fort Portal is roughly 30 mins away for everything else (deliveries can be arranged) and there are many lodges in the region with open restaurants. Some fruit, vegetables and honey available from the farm, depending on seasonal variation. A respectable tour company operates ten minutes from the property and can be contacted in advance.

I run a beekeeping-related conservation project on the edge of the rainforest in Uganda. Our guests will be directly contributing to the conservation efforts of our team, and will help keep the project alive! We offer space for free spirits and curious travellers to overlook the rainforest and savannah from our spot on the hill. Make yourselves at home and be as much or as little involved as you like.
