We were a party of four adults and enjoyed our 4-night stay . Rick's apartment was spacious, comfortable and had the quirkiness of the upstairs of an old, charming (URL HIDDEN) Rick described, the location is great especially for people visiting Evanston - lovely neighbourhood and minutes from the lake, restaurants, food stores and the train station to go into the city. We found the kitchen a bit under equipped but Rick responded quickly to our requests. On the whole, a good place to stay.

There was a bottle of wine welcoming us upon arrival. Unfortunately, we never met Rick or Tracey, but Shawn was a great help to us. The kitchen had all the appliances and tools needed to make meals. The location is great, although for those looking to get in and out of the city centre quickly this isn't the place. It takes about 30 minutes to get to downtown if you catch the Purple Line express, and about 40-45 if you are outside of rush hour times. But it is close to Northwestern University campus, downtown Evanston, and the lakefront (great for running!), so there is no shortage of things to do and places to eat. All in all, a great place to stay.

We found the apartment to be perfect for our recent stay. We were in town for our grandson's birthday and our granddaughter's baptism. The location was great and only about 4 blocks from where our daughter lives on Sherman Avenue. In fact, our grandson attends the school across the street which made for a perfect meeting place for some of the activities. We were made to feel welcome by the host.

The host was not present at check in. I only met or saw the host for a matter of seconds, when he appeared, only as I was carrying my luggage down the stairs and departing after one night of a three night booking. I understand house rules are a normal part of airbnb and must be respected. Upon arrival, there was, however, a printed paper with a litany of rules not listed on the apartment profile, which lent an air of extreme lack of hospitality: Lights must be turned off when out. Garbage must be separated with fresh garbage individually sealed and bagged in zip lock bags and all disposed in an outside bin. Towels must be collected and deposited in bags and left in a specific location. Host must be contacted, if you plan to stay out past 10:00pm. At night, no loud noise; tv, radio or "WALKING" (seriously) No shoes or sandals on carpet Apartment must be cleaned before departing; dishes, towels; everything. All of that for an old, worn, run down apartment, likely typical for the age of properties in the area that have not undergone any rehab. The lack of host contact upon arrival or at any time, for that matter, makes it difficult to feel welcome, operate the amenities in the apartment and makes a comfortable stay impossible. Only 4 channels worked on the TV. Upon text contact with the host, I was told that all channels worked but after attempting for an hour to figure out to operate the two, remote controls, I texted my frustration and asked to be told how to use the remote controls, a type, which were very old and a type I have never seen before. After again texting my inability to solve the remote control issue, a second time, and asking for assistance, I was told via text that I was correct the first time and only 4 channels worked (and of course, pointedly retold again to make sure to not make any noise when entering or exiting the apartment.) (After I departed, airbnb was told by the host that all channels did, in fact work but, in the end, I was told they did not and no one showed me any aspect of the functionality of the apartment, tv notwithstanding.) Upon arrival, the fan on the microwave was on and I did not know how to turn it off. A text to host asking for solution was not returned. I figured it out after almost one hour. After my arrival, the only information communicated, in response to texted questions, was to make sure to be quiet, since I had told host, as required, that I would be out for dinner each night and not return until after the 10:00. (I was alone and not making, nor intending to make any noise.) I am always respectful of any airbnb property I stay in and I have had glowing, tenant reviews, after bookings in multiple countries. I always leave...

Great location, close to downtown Evanston, lake, and CTA. Rick was very helpful with check in and questions that came up during our visit. Special thanks for turning up the heat during a sudden cold snap.

Location was excellent for access to CTA, Northwestern, Evanston and the lake. House is a bit bedraggled from the outside but fine inside. Dust in corners and on windows needs cleaning

Rick was very accommodating with letting us check in an hour early and making a space for us to park since there isn't much street parking. The neighborhood is gorgeous and can walk to restaurants, shops and the lake.
