From the Reading Room - there are double doors with a security gate opening onto a Covered Patio & BBQ Area with a Large Outdoor table and 8 chairs, including an extra console table and a drinks trolley. The Main Lounge is furnished with comfortable, grey leather reclining lounge suite and two ottomans and a flat screen TV. The full DSTV package is available at an extra charge per day. The fireplace is for ambiance only as we would prefer to keep our home a “smoke free environment”.

The kitchen is fully equipped with eye level oven and hob, large fridge/freezer and a combination microwave as well as necessary kettle, toaster etc. There is also a hostess trolley. A dishwasher, washing machine and drier are plumbed in for your convenience. You will notice that as this was our home there are lots of additional items that may not be listed on the inventory but are there to make your stay more convenient and memorable.
In the Entrance you will find a telephone table where there is a phone connection as well as free Wi-Fi Internet access. Please note that we would kindly respect that you do not use the phone for any International calls or for Mobile calls – this has been left out for your convenience for local calls only or for receiving calls. In the bookcase is a host of novels for your enjoyment.
The Private Pool is in the front garden of the house and there are two floating beanbags available for your enjoyment in or out of the water. The pool is secured by a pool cover.

Knysna is a particularly beautiful area of the South African coast, 500km from Cape Town and around 270km from Port Elizabeth along the famous Garden Route – George Domestic Airport is the closest to our home being a 50 minute, scenic drive away. Knysna is the pearl of the Garden Route and is situated between George and Plettenberg Bay. Thanks to a Mediterranean climate, Knysna is a mantle of indigenous forests and greenery, nestled between the Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean and extending towards the Tsitsikamma National Park. The Knysna lagoon is the largest estuary in the Southern Hemisphere and possesses the highest plant and animal diversity of all South African estuaries and is home to the endangered Knysna Seahorse. The lagoon is the heart of Knysna and is protected by the amazing monolithic sandstone “Heads” which are best explored either by boat or by hiking the various paths around Featherbed Nature Reserve. Knysna is the culinary capital of oysters and a variety of other delectable seafood and is a well known cultural hotspot for arts and crafts. Adventure activities like tree canopy gliding, kloofing and abseiling are available and you will find some excellent Golf courses nearby. Hiking and Biking trails are in abundance and of course you have the maginifent Indian Ocean and the Lagoon on your doorstep for aquatic activities.
Brenton on Sea has a beautiful butterfly Reserve, so do take the time to visit this natural park and look for our famous Brenton Blue Butterfly, the Knynsa Lourie (now renamed the Knysna Turaco) and Bushbuck are often seen in the area and have been spotted in the brush opposite our house. On occasion we have had visits from a tortoise or two and owls can be spotted on the road in and out of Brenton. Of course dolphins are regularly sighted from Brenton Beach and if you visit during mating season, you may be fortunate enough to view the Southern Right Whales from the deck.
There is a 5km long white sandy beach (one way), within walking distance from our house, although parking is available at the beach. The Rocky outcrops are pretty spectacular, explore Castle Rock! The beach stretches from Brenton on Sea to Buffles Bay, look out for our famous Black Oyster Catchers that breed in the area along the way…
Closer to the house is the lovely “fisherman’s walk” which ofters shady lookout bomas on a wooden pathway, making an easy, romantic walk along the cliff edge with beautiful views out towards the magnificent Indian Ocean. Take time to hike down to the ocean where you can explore the little hidden beaches, caves and private fishing spots.
Lake Brenton provides a jetty and slipway for boats and canoes.
No public transport available, would recommend having a car, although taxi's can be arranged for transport in and out of town and/or airport transfers.
The pool is in the front garden of the house and is in an enclosed garden, however if you have small children please be mindful not to leave gates or front door open. The upstairs Deck is also quite open please do not allow children to lean, jump or climb over or on the railings.
