This is a fun stopover for travelers commuting along the I-5. Enjoy great views, nearby wineries, swimming holes, hang gliders overhead, and a casual, social Euro-vibe. Just 7 miles away from the cafes and shops of charming Jacksonville.

The space

The Crash Pad is a perfect stopover between Portland and SF and is also a destination unto itself. As one guest put it: " Her home seems to have a magic of it's own...attracting interesting, kind, warm-hearted and road-weary travelers from around the world. Dinner time conversations were fun, the food was great and wine was plentiful." If you are inspired to fly, she can book you a tandem paragliding flight. It's a great way to see the area from above and your pilot will land you at a winery. The place is rustic with elegant touches ("shabby chic" decor). If you like golf-course lawns and wall-to-wall carpeting suburbia, we aren't a match!! But if a house surrounded by sprawling wild roses, carefree energy, and the occasional impromptu dinner parties sounds interesting, you'll be happy here.

I rarely need the option to dispense 6 stars, but in this case, I sure wish I could! My experience at Christina's was truly magical, starting with easy and flexible check-in. After arriving late, after a long, hot drive, to relax at her picnic tables under the stars with snacks and wine was just the thing (She left out wine for guests too, but I had brought my own :)). The gardens and outdoor areas are so inviting and her home has such a welcoming vibe, that I immediately wanted to extend my trip! After receiving this request, Christina worked with me to make it happen. Therefore I can vouch for both the comfort of Room #2 and for the sunroom - great beds/bedding and Room #2 has a great little desk area. While the vistas of mountains and grapevines will greet and entice you in the morning, if you *must* work from the Crashpad, her wifi is more than powerful enough. She also recommended comfortable places to work from in town. I very much enjoyed meeting the other guests with whom I crossed paths, which I attribute to Christina’s ability to create a comfortable atmosphere. Last but not least, she kindly invited me to dine with some friends she had visiting, as we had mutual interests. A very jolly time was had by all - with unforgettable sunsets and very fine company (she’s an excellent cook to boot)! TL;DR - you should stay here. :)

Christina's place is in an absolutely beautiful part of Southern Oregon Wine Country that looks like its straight off of a postcard. A close drive to Medford and Ashland, her home is so cute and has a cozy vibe while being quite spacious. I stayed here on a stopover from Seattle to San Fransisco, and it was perfect. Christina is so nice too! Highly recommended.

I am a paraglider pilot, local wine expert, and travel writer. I spend winter exploring the world and leading writing tours in Morocco, Mexico, and Nepal. Summers are for paragliding, swimming, picking blackberries, and drinking wine here in Applegate Wine Country. I love hosting travelers, so I was born to do AirBnB!
