Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Remote, tranquil, quiet and private getaway on 5.8 acres on the banks of the Elk Creek; only 1.5 hours from the Twin Cities! This creek is known as a class 1 trout stream. Guests can enjoy fishing, sight seeing, canoeing and kayaking the Chippewa River or Elk Lake, biking, hiking, atv/utv and snowmobile trails nearby as well. Enter a world of peace and calm deep in the woods. This is a beautiful rustic cabin that has been beautifully restored.

Permit issued and inspected by Dunn County.

The space
This cabin is perfect for those looking for a cozy, no frills, rustic cabin-camping experience in the woods of western Wisconsin.
The historic Log Cabin sits on the banks of the Elk Creek and was built in the 1920s. It features handmade log construction, concrete in-floor heat, a stone gas fireplace, woodstove, and a handmade door.
The cabin has a bathroom with a shower, quaint kitchen, one bedroom with a queen (new plush pillow top) size bed, a living room with two sofas with one being a sofa sleeper (queen) and with room for an air bed (bring your own), and a small loft (reading area). It also has a wood heated porch overlooking the creek.
The kitchen includes a sink, oven/stove with four burners, microwave, fridge, griddle, toaster, and coffee maker. Dishes, pots, pans, eating and cooking utensils and a gas grill are provided. Dish soap and dishtowels are also provided, but dishes must be handwashed by our guests. Please note that we recommend our guests provide their own drinking water. The water is safe to drink but by preference we recommend you bring bottled water.
The bedroom is simple, but spacious and features a queen bed with a night stand, lamp and dresser.
The living room has a dining table with four chairs, two couches (one is a sofa sleeper) and chair (room for an air mattress-bring your own). Also a beautiful stone gas fireplace. The fireplace offers ambiance to the space and heats the cabin. Wood for the woodstove is located in the wood shed. A controllable thermostat allows guests to set the temperature of the cabin to their preference (there is a/c, however the shady location keeps the cabin cool in summer). There is also a small loft that is accessible by a ladder and is a nice reading nook. There is a television and a DVD player in the porch area and in the living room area. Free WiFi is now available. There are board games located in the antique chest.
We do our best to keep the nearly century-old cabin pest free, but it is not “completely” sealed tight-like many places. So, guests should be aware that on occasion, there may be a mouse present - especially in the fall as they make their way towards warmer locations in preparation of winter. This should not be a big concern to you! Just making note...
The cabin does have a steel roof and when there is rainfall, guests will hear the rain drops. Relaxing noise for most but...
Also, the log cabin is located in the beautiful woods of western Wisconsin. Because of this, guests will experience bugs such as mosquitoes and sometimes deer flies. If you are hiking during the summer, you may also find ticks. It is recommended to wear long sleeves and pants while hiking and to bring bug spray if you will spend time outdoors.

There are two kayaks, many board games and yard games available for your use.
