A real homestay experience amidst a cocoa plantation near Matale.
Gamini's homestay is situated in the middle of Gamini's cocoa garden, which keeps the home cool during hot days. Gamini and his family live in the house and can provide homecooked meals as well as information about where to go and what to do.
Interaction with guests
During weekdays Gamini works as a teacher, his wife works at the local bank and their son going to school. Together they run their little homestay and the cocoa garden to make some extra income. Cocoa's big in the region and Gamini can tell you all about it, if you accept to get lost in translation every now and then.
Neverbeen offers a wide variety of rare homes off the beaten track, from fisherman's huts and tree houses to heritage homes and tea estates. Our team hand-picks and visits every home and meet all hosts to make ensure guests have a positively memorable stay in places they've never been.
We provide travellers and home owners in challenging locations with access to one another, by offering communication services, online marketing services and tourism training, so that locals can make a living off their home and travellers can get to stay in places they have never been.
As such, Neverbeen works for a world in which everyone has the chance to earn income by renting out their home, regardless of language, internet access and tourism experience.
In Sri Lanka, Dishan manages our growing group of homes in cooperation with our scouts, while Rohan creates listings and provides service. In Amsterdam, Marten works out international growth plans. Our team of in-house programmers is constantly developing the platform itself and Ernst & Young does our finances.
The first country we're active in is Sri Lanka, a beautiful country with many undiscovered places to stay. Due to it recently having opened up to tourism after decades of conflict, it is a great place to start and pilot the Neverbeen concept. We plan to expand to ten countries before the end of 2017.
