Cozy & quaint year round home, in town. Home is located 1 block from the West Bay Harbor and 3 blocks from the Agate Beach shoreline of Lake Superior. Ski/snowmobile trails out front door, Pictured Rocks NP begins 3 miles to our west. We are "Nature in Abundance"
Private room, one full size bed, and shared bath with one other guest room if occupied. Room can accommodate up to a full size air mattress, not provided but bedding can be made available upon request.
Our home is one that has been named The Painted Lady of homes. It is a style and color unique to such homes. Each room is defined by separation of space, leaving the home with many cozy conversation areas. The home was redesigned with the idea of possibly someday housing two units. With that in mind the home is almost completely soundproof.
Front porch and gazebo area, private covered heated back deck, private staircase leading to guest bedrooms & private bath. Microwave & refrigerator in guest common area is there for guests use.
Many guest find my love for the area helpful when planning daily outings. I love hearing all about adventures.
Our town has a true sense of the word neighbor. Say hi to folks you pass and wave as you drive by other vehicles and you'll fit right in.
Getting around has many options:
A great walking town
We are located a few miles from Pictured Rocks National Shoreline Park. There are over 63 waterfalls in 100 mile radius, each unique and just as lovely as the next.
The North Country Trail aka NCT system is one of the longest in the United States and it passes a few feet from our front porch. Grand Marais was just awarded NCT town of the year, we couldn't be prouder to support our amazing trail.
Step out the front door and put your
skis/snowshoes on or jump onto your snowmobile. With hundreds of miles of beautifully groomed ski and snowmobile trails visitors wonder how anytime of the year could offer more activities than a Grand Marais winter wonderland.
Grand Marais offers 1 gas station with a market offering food items, wine, beer, and liquor sales. There are 3 restaurants, and 1 very special brewing pub that also serves great meals. Our newest addition is Grand Marais Tavern in the very heart of our tiny town and kitty corner from the house. Grand Marais is home to its own dining car, West Bay Diner is a great collection of everything Yoop!
Essentials can be found at Superior Hardware, and for a bit larger grocery selection Superior Grocers.
Everything in Grand Marais is a very short walk from our front door.
Front porch and gazebo area, private staircase leading to guest bedrooms & private bath.
Microwave & refrigerator in guest area downstairs with Keurig and complimentary coffee/tea/hot chocolate.
Interaction with guests
As little or as often as guests desire. Many guest find my love for the area helpful when planning daily outings. I love hearing all about adventures.
Summer months can be very busy and I am located at the ice cream shop four doors to the north of the house, same side of the street. I am at the house most mornings, but don't get home from the shop until about midnight. Please stop in the shop and say HI!!!
Kindness, honesty, and respectful.

I recently made the move to Grand Marais, finally after visiting the area for 12 years. I have lived in many places around our amazing country, and I have traveled abroad. So believe me when I tell you this area is incredibly unique, beautiful, and provides a peace found only on the shores of Lake Superior.
I am a mother to 2 great boys, and I have helped raise 3 more boys. I was hockey mom then golf mom and a few other sports along the way. My youngest is now 20 years old, and has returned to Oregon to explore.
For some time now my passion has been exploring the area surrounding my new home. I love introducing new spots to visitors and listening to their stories upon returning from a day spent in our forest or on the lakeshore.
If you are a novice nature explorer, or an expert backwoods trekker I can point you in a direction to leisurely enjoy our area or challenge yourself against nature.
Some activities I enjoy: camping, kayaking, hiking, biking, skiing, cooking, reading (epically next to a fire), rock hunting, and gardening.
I love watching our ice climbers but haven't gotten up the nerve to give it a try, yet!
Snowmobiling is a means of winter transportation not just an activity.
