Mama Bear's cabin was so lovely. The hot tub was great. And the space was so comfy and cozy. More secluded than I thought. We did hear the kids camp banging pots and pans one morning. But ultimately we had a great time and look forward to coming back. Thanks Drue and Rene!

We had a great time at Mama Bear's Cabin with our baby and 3 year old. We booked last minute and Drue and Rene were very accomodating. It's a cute, woodsy cabin with comfortable beds. The adjacent summer camp was quite close, but the occasional noise didn't bother us. Thankfully Drue turned on the AC before our arrival because it was 100 degrees! Would love to return in the fall to enjoy the hot tub under the trees :) Close to Nevada City, Grass Valley and incredible swimming holes on the Yuba river. Would love to go back!

Charming country cabin. Nevada City is very cute. Drue and Rene's place is close enough to be convenient, far enough to be woodsy and quiet. They had a fire going for us when we arrived. Beds were super comfortable. We loved the freahly ground coffee in the morning. We will be back if travels take us to the area again!

If you are looking for a place that is quiet and beautiful then you must stay at Mama Bear Cabin. The energy when you walk into the cabin is so warm and inviting. It's a great size for a family, or even two couples and children. The loft is the perfect place for kids to sleep. The wrap around porch is amazing, and the Adirondack Chairs are so comfortable! I just love this place, and it's so close to Nevada City and all of the fun shops. Oh, I almost forgot we ran into Drue one day, and he told us of a spot to check out on the Yuba River, and we did and we were really pleased! Thanks for the recommendation! I know we'll be back!

We caught mice running back and forth on the kitchen counter. A scouring pad was stuffed in the mouse hole behind the coffee pot to try to keep them away; mouse droppings in the pots and pans, kitchen counter, living room tables, and laundry room. This is a great location near the river and the downtown area of Nevada City. The hot tub was relaxing after a hike. Even with the positives, this was way overpriced to be worrying about rodent issues.

Response from Drue And René:
We were very sorry to hear that this guest was visited by mice, and wish they had told us immediately instead of waiting until after their stay, so we could have addressed the problem earlier in their stay. Our cabin is in the woods and during the cold and very wet winter months the mice are eager to move inside. We encourage our guests to please put all food away in the cupboards or fridge, and clean dishes and counters after eating. We have since abated and placed non-toxic ( to humans and pets) bait in strategic places as a precaution.

Rene and I have been hosting guests at our Mama, Baby, and Papa Bear Cabins for nearly a decade and have met some of the nicest folks along the way. We now rent out our upstairs studio apartment in town. We love this town and the surrounding, area and are happy to share information with our guests about the best live theater, musical events, great restaurants, and historical outings, as well as the awesome trails. We are both runners and happy to share information on where to go for a great run or hike. Rene is a potter and has some of her work displayed or for use in our rentals. You may catch us in a play from time to time. We love to dine out, and Nevada City has some great restaurants.

We live just a short distance from the cabins, and are accessable by phone most of the time, should you have any needs during your stay. You may not see us, unless you are staying with us in town, but rest assured we are thinking of you. Your privacy and comfort are important to us, and we look forward to the opportunity to host you!
