Situated in Kera cultural and picturesque village, Chariklia traditional house is the perfect getaway from crowded touristic areas of Crete, but still in a short driving distance from all amazing beaches like Falassarna, Balos and Elafonissi and natural beauties that West Crete can offer!

The space
Our stone built house is located in Kera village, just 12km South East from Kissamos town where all amenities can be found. Kera village is located in an 197m altitude and is a perfect example of a traditional Cretan village with great culture and history. Kera village has many to offer to the nature and serenity lovers! Natural springs, a cave with stalagmites and stalactites, huge platan trees, fruit trees, wild vines, ancient olive trees, herbs and wild flowers, stone paved alleys are just some of the beauties of the village.

Chariklia's traditional house was built in 1820 and was renovated in 2019 by the owner, Manolis Saridakis, born and raised in this house. Preserving the authentic architecture and decorated with antique furniture as well as household and agricultural items from an other era, Chariklia’s traditional house combined with the serenity and tranquility of the village, makes you feel you have traveled in time!

The house has a small veranda near the entrance which you reach after ascending some steps. There is also a small wooden fence that separates this veranda from the neighbors. There are two entrances to the house, one leading to the main area of the house where the kitchen, dinning and sitting area are, and the other to the bedroom. The kitchen is equipped with electric hob and oven, a microwave, coffee maker, toaster and boiler and all necessary kitchenware. The sofa bed can comfortably accommodate 2 more people and there is also an internal door that separates the living area from the bedroom for more privacy. Next to the kitchen there is one more door leading to a big balcony with comfortable dinning furniture and breathtaking mountain and village views. The entrance of a basic bathroom is at this balcony as well. The bathroom is equipped with a washing machine.

Guest access
The entire house is available for our guests.

Other things to note
We will meet you in the village square at a predetermined time (free parking) and we will walk together for 2 minutes through the beautiful alleys of the village to get home.

Kera, Greece

The people living in the village are very welcoming, friendly and helpful and they will be more than happy to share with you historical and cultural info of the area. The traditional “cafenion” of the village as well as the square with its stone carved monument are some of the places you can interact and merge with the locals. The villages around Kera offer their own cultural trip! Small scale family businesses with traditional delicacies such as “xerotigana”, cheese, honey and wine as well as “meze” taverns are all located in a 1-4km distance.

Kera is also the ideal place to stay for the Roka festivities that take place in both villages and last about 10 days.
