About this listing

This family cabin is a true gem on the river! Located on 6.5 acres, you truly feel secluded, able to relax, enjoy and explore the area. Three bedrooms and two baths ensure your whole family or group of friends enjoy the vacation.

The space

Our cabin is set in paradise, on the banks of the Conejos River. Sitting on over six acres, you are sure to enjoy a quiet get away. Whether your intentions are to get out and explore, hike, hunt, fish, backpack, or simply relax, this place is it! There are so many opportunities in the area for any outdoor enthusiast, I am confident you will return. The cabin itself is hand built from solid logs, and offers enough space to fit 8 adults in beds. There are also three bedrooms, two baths, a large kitchen, and a nice living room inside making accommodation for a group up to 8 easy. There is also a nice, covered deck to enjoy the nice weather under.

Guest access

Guests will enjoy exclusive access to the cabin and the property. Although it sits on the river, there is no fishing access without booking a guide. It is catch and release, fly fishing only with barbless hooks. Please let me know if you would like to fish, so I can set you up with a guide. There are ample nearby fishing opportunities on both public and private water (for rod fees).

Interaction with guests

More than likely we will not be in town the same time as our guests. We do also own the adjacent property, so we may me there at times.

Please enjoy the cabin and property and treat it with care and respect. This is not intended to be a party house. We provide all guests a guide with more detailed rules, along with fees for breaking the rules, both as a off before your trip, along with in a binder at the cabin. We may allow some pets, but you must inquire before your trip. As I mentioned, there is no fishing access on the property without booking a private guide. The stretch of water is patrolled by both the guides and neighbors, so please respect this rule. There are cameras in use to make sure folks don't trespass along both sides of the river, so please let me know if you would like to fish with a guide so we can set that up. There is plenty of access within minutes on both public and private stretches.

If you have any questions before you book regarding additional rules, please ask.

Very quiet location, outside of Antonito. Right on the Conejos River. Not within walking distance to any restaurants or hiking trails, but a very short drive. The house does have wifi, to keep the kids at bay. No TV, which is what we wanted. That led to some nice nights of card games. The river location is good, but the Antonito/Mogote area is known for mosquitos. Which were an annoyance. However, there were a few mornings which were clear of bugs and very pleasant. The house is solidly built, and can sleep 7. Maybe a couple of more, if they don't mind couches. No dishwasher or laundry, but still a well equipped kitchen for cooking meals.

Beautiful place for our family getaway. The cabin has the feel of a home and the sound of the rushing river just outside is magical! Joe was very accommodating and quick to respond to our questions. We would love to go back and experience it in other seasons, as well.

We had a wonderful stay. The quite seclusion along the river was relaxing and just what my family needed. We made several day trips exploring the area, almost wished we had reserved this place for a few more days. The cabin was very clean and comfortable and Joe is a great host. We did not have too many questions before or during or stay. This was because the house instructions were very clear. We would return the next time we want to explore southwestern Colorado.

This lovely cabin is in a really beautiful location right on the river. Owners were very easy to communicate with for questions, requests, etc. Cabin has lots of great sleeping and gathering space. Good sized kitchen.

Joes cabin was everything we could hope for! It was the perfect base for our fishing adventure on the Conejos River. The kitchen was full of everything one could need for cooking your own meals. We will be making this cabin one of our annual trips for years to come.

I am married to a lovely young school teacher. The two of us love exploring outdoors, and being down at our cabin in Southern Colorado. When not in Denver, we are rowing our raft, fly fishing, hiking, back packing, hunting or exploring all that Colorado has to offer. After traveling to over 25 countries, I know what true hospitality is, and will kindly return the favor. I once stayed in Italy with a family of a new friend, who did not even speak English (and I do not speak Italian). We were able to communicate via Spanish, and I was shown around their region with amazing hospitality.
