Welcome to The Scottsville Brown Barn on the sheep farm! This barn is located on a working sheep farm and located less than two miles from downtown Scottsville, 25 minutes from Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, and less than 30 minutes to Charlottesville.

Optimal work from home and vacation accommodations. Please keep in mind that this is a working farm and many sounds and smells come along with it!

The space
While our space is quite luxurious and features a double shower head in the bathroom, organic linens and towels throughout, a smart TV (we do not have cable, but Netflix is available), high-speed internet for virtual learning and working from "home", and a laundry room with washer and dryer, please remember this is a working farm. Odessa the pony lives downstairs and sometimes gnaws on the barn. You will likely see chickens walking around outside and the sheep do like to "baaaaaaah." The owners will give you all the personal space you desire, but they will be around doing farm chores from time to time. This apartment comes with the experience of farm living, while also experiencing indoor luxury. The perfect getaway!

**The barn is now equipped for WFH! A Stir Kinetic Standing Desk and Vari Active Stool make working from home comfortable. An AIO wireless printer and scanner is being delivered soon for guest use.

This apartment is accessed by a flight of stairs and there is a queen bed in the bedroom with a twin pull-out sofa in the common area. There is also a folding cot and mattress in the closet that can be pulled out for an additional bed. There is a large walk-in closet, which could easily fit a pack-n-play for parents with babies/toddlers. We are pet friendly, though you will have an added $30 charge for additional cleaning that will be needed. Please try your best to keep your pets off the couch and beds. This $30 charge will be sent separately during or after your stay.

**If you are interested in horse boarding during your stay, that can be arranged for an added fee. There is plenty of land to ride on, as well as local stables: Stave Mill Farm and Grayson Farm.**

We value holistic living and have incorporated that into this apartment. As stated previously, all linens and towels are 100% cotton and the mattress is polyester free. Homemade toxin-free handsoaps, bug sprays, and room sprays are also available in this rental.

Guest access
You will have access to the apartment above the barn, and you are welcome to visit with Odessa downstairs. Feel free to visit the sheep and if you would like directions for river access on the property, we can make that happen, too.

Other things to note
We do practice chemical-free cleaning at The Brown Barn, though we are taking extra measures due to COVID-19. Stronger cleaning agents are being used to ensure your stay is COVID free! I will leave a list with the steps that have been taken prior to your visit to give you peace of mind that your space is clean and sanitized.

Location

Scottsville, Virginia, United States

Scottsville is a very unique little town. Located less than two miles away is the heart of downtown Scottsville, which features a wine bar, brewery, coffee shop, several restaurants, and a tubing and rafting company. We are also about 30 minutes from Charlottesville and are surrounded by great hiking and outdoor areas, as well as wineries. Thomas Jefferson's historic home, Monticello, is also just under 30 minutes down the road. The famous Nelson 151 route is also quite close (less than an hour away) and makes for a great day trip. This barn does have river access to The James, which is on the of greatest parts about Scottsville. You will not be at a loss for things to do around here!

During your stay
I am free via the Airbnb app if anything arises. You can also shoot me a text, if needed. I live one street over, so I can be there quick, as needed.

Again, please remember this is a working farm and the owners will respect your privacy, though farm chores must go on! Interacting with others is not comfortable for everyone during the pandemic, so we will give you your space if we see you out and about at the farm, unless you tell us otherwise.
