IMPORTANT PREAMBLE: Must Read Before Booking
****
A PDF with the rental agreement/liability waivers will be sent to you as soon as you book to be signed and returned before you arrive. We send it to you as soon as you book so that you can cancel with no penalty within the appropriate time (check that date based on your booking dates and our cancellation policy on the site) if you realize we are not for you.

Bookings can only be made by a guest with a minimum 4.0* rating or higher.

Bookings for this entire home cannot be made by anyone under 25, so please do not proceed with this booking if no one in your group is over 25. Our only exception to this rule would be if you are over 18 and under 25 with 3 5* reviews, we would consider booking with you.

Our $250 CLEANING FEE+RESORT FEE on top of the nightly fee includes: firewood for your stay including chopping up wood for the pizza oven, propane for the bbq, your use of the hot tub, us cleaning the wood fired hot tub, septic tank emptying, your use of the sauna, electricity for the sauna, your use of the wood fired brick pizza oven, higher utility costs, making sure the canoes and pedal boats are ready (summer), life jackets (summer), preparing the outside, and of course preparing and cleaning the home including providing fresh bedding. We work hard to ensure our guests enjoy the cabin and trust each to do their share when leaving meaning clean up after yourselves inside the house and outside and leave the property in a safe state. Our home is family centered and run by our family. Please make sure it is respected so you can enjoy it as well as those who come as guests after you.

If you want to book the house and the loft, find Marleau's Harbour Resort|4 Seasons|SLEEPS upto 22 on the site by searching or you can find this booking option through my profile.

Make sure someone in your group is knowledgeable about working with fire. Proper large fires are needed in the hot tub fire box with regular stoking and refilling of wood in the firebox (could take from 4-6 hours to heat the tub to 40 degrees). The pizza oven also needs a few large fires to heat the bricks.

Please read our house rules which has **1 secret code word** to unlock booking with us. Please provide it when booking.

DETAILS:
This 4 season loft is located on the Bird River, just 1.5 hours from Winnipeg.

The loft is accessed via a set of stairs.

The kitchen is equipped with a dual-rack convection oven, stove top, microwave, coffee pot, dishwasher, pots, pans, dishes and cutlery as well as a waffle maker. Under our use, the kitchen and the rest of the cooking surfaces are only used for plant-based cooking. If you are bringing animal products into our home, please be extremely mindful of your cleaning after cooking, particularly the counters, sink and fridge.

There are bar stools overlooking the island for eating and a comfortable living room with a fireplace and a TV. There are lookout windows in the loft which oversee the beautiful Bird River. Two bedrooms with comfortable bedding can accommodate 4 people. There is pull out sofa to sleep two more people which is equipped with fresh bedding, stored within the couch’s storage section. There are also two cubbies each of which has a twin bed with bedding for two more people.

The loft has AC. There is one full bathroom. Please bring your own towels and beach towels.

Important note: there is no cable but we have provided a Chrome cast. Please bring passwords to your favorite things like Netflix etc for your entertainment pleasure.

The sauna is electric and overlooks the water. Please make sure to read waiver and accept it in a written message to the host as well as instructions before use. The sauna is a shared amenity with those in the other house. In the event that both homes are booked, the loft (you) will access the sauna between 10am-noon and 6pm-8pm. The house will have access to the sauna the rest of the hours. We will keep you posted on any other time slots which will be available to you.

There is a wood-fired Japanese style Alumitub hot tub which seats 6-8 people. It is filled with potable water* for your stay. It is for use by your party only. Firewood is available as mentioned above. Please make sure to read waiver and accept it in a written message to the host as well as instructions before use. Please make sure you have someone in your group who is knowledgeable about making big hot fires to be able to heat the tub properly. It will require regular stoking and refilling the firebox with wood until the tub gets to at least 40 degrees.

*As of the summer of 2022, we get the hot tub filled with fresh potable water for your stay.
For bookings less than 7 nights, the cost is $165 ($150 if booked before April 1, 2026) for the water.
For bookings of 7 nights or more, we cover the cost of the portable water.

As it says on the Alumitub website: Relish the Ritual: Light the fire, disconnect from your devices and reconnect with nature. No gadgets, no bells and whistles. Just water, firewood, and good company.

A woodfired brick pizza oven has been added as of May, 2021 as a shared amenity. The tools to use the oven have been provided as well (a thermometer on the front of the oven, a foldable table, and a metal pizza peel). The loft guests will get first choice on the meal they want to use the oven for. The house guests get next choice on which meal. Wood is provided for each group to cook their meal (s) as well as instructions. The rest of the meals are open to whichever group would like to use it, please coordinate with the host. It is important to clean up the foldable table and pizza peels and return them so that the other group may use it in a timely fashion. Please read instructions carefully before using the oven.

There is also a basketball net, which is also a shared amenity. Please bring your own basketball.

There are beautiful pink concrete pathways around the property. There are two canoes (each has 3 seats) and 1 pedal boat (5 seats) available for use. Please ensure that all guests use life jackets when in the boats, and follow all boating rules and regulations when they're on the water. Please make sure to read waiver and accept it in a written message to the host as well as instructions before use. Life jackets and paddles are available for your use.

At this time, the RM only allows our guests to bring fishing or pontoon boats (maximum 2 at the loft dock), no jet skis or wake boats.

High speed Starlink WiFi is provided.

Important Note:

The RM garbage dump is very strict on compost, recyclables and refuse being separate. If you are dropping off the garbage and recycling with our tag to the dump, please collect it all sorted as follows: organic material, recyclables (numbered) and the rest. Please return our tag to the kitchen drawer you found it in or back t the house guest if that is how you got access. If you are not dropping off the garbage and recycling at the dump, please take ALL the garbage and recycling with you when you checkout.

Guest access
You can access the loft, the paths and the dock on your side as well as the loft firepit and the 6-8 person wood-fired hot tub which is solely for the loft. You may wander the grounds.

You share the sauna, the woodfired brick pizza oven and its tools, the basketball court (small), and the children's playground.

You don't have access to the house (unless you also rented that).
You don't have access to the RV (unless you rented the house and made arrangements to rent the RV for extra beds).

Just to clarify also that you do not have access to the house only amenities: outdoor fire-pit and the sheltered firepit for the house, the tiki bar and the house’s dock and the 10-12 person wood fired hot tub for the house.

Also you don't have access to the garage.

There is a new amenity: a two person wood fired tub which is part of our special couples only listing at the loft. That is not part of this listing. If you want to include it in your rental, please talk with us. It would be a $50 extra charge.

Other things to note
In our photo gallery, we have divider photos which help organize our information. On those dividers, as is appropriate, you will find links which give you more information. For example, on our Before Checkin divider description, you will see a link to the basics we provide and what we do not, so you can come prepared to enjoy our place to the fullest. This information is also on the Arrival Guide Page.

If you need anything, please let us know. We pride ourselves in helping you have the best time you can at our property.

We are asking guests to bring drinking water as of 2026. We have a great filtration system for all our water and then another filtration system on top of that for drinking water. There were some concern that we heard about late last year in the neighborhood and so we started bringing drinking water. We have currently shut off the drinking water spout by the kitchen tap in the loft.

Born in the 70s
My work: Operations and Finance Director @ ASD Enterprises Limited
I transitioned from my Engineering/Computer Programming career in 2008 to partner with my husband to run his Structural Engineering company and raise 4 children. We decided we wanted to travel and so we made our business nimble and world-schooled our children, which included initially traveling in and living in an old RV to Florida for two winters (4 months each) and doing school at a beautiful park and a pristine beach as well as traveling to Victoria BC in the same RV for two winters (6 months each) but living in the mountains in a beautiful condo. We then started flying to our destinations and staying in Airbnbs for 4-6 weeks stints once our children started playing competitive sports. I wear many hats: goddess to my husband, the operations and finance director of our company: ASD Enterprises Limited, mother, teacher, friend, mentor, nimble open minded spiritual being and now Airbnb host. I am more into experiences than things. I am Sri-Lankan by ancestry, but I was born in Sierra-Leone and later grew up in Nigeria (where I met both my future husband and my best friend) and had a short stint in England before coming to Canada. The best parts of my idyllic childhood was connecting with the little imp inside of me and appreciating her truly, enjoying lots of creative free time, traveling, meeting new people, eating fresh food made by my mom from my dad's incredible garden and reading voraciously. I love to read and still read (or listen to audiobooks) eagerly and enthusiastically. I study a lot of spiritual books, leadership books and books which help me understand myself and my role in this world as well as books to help those I mentor and to help me better serve as a business person. I do enjoy a great story whether real or fictional. I am lucky to be a very fast reader and can get through 600 page fictional books in a few hours. I also love movies which make me laugh, cry or have a great story. I watch main stream movies as well as international movies from all over the world. I am passionate about writing, poetry and working on developing my artistic skills. I am currently learning piano as well and hope to learn some other instruments. I would say that my superpowers stem from my very high intuition, open-mindedness and ability/willingness to change course in a moment. I would say that I carry little baggage, both metaphorically as a human and literally (when I travel). I would say that I am a person who surrenders to the Universe and trusts the Universe. I live by 'do anything as you do everything' and surrendering has always worked for me and so if ever I struggle, ultimately, my go-to solution is to surrender whole heartedly. Courage and surrender are the corner stones of how I live my life and this is a short poem I wrote which explains how both have blessed my life. They give me freedom and make me feel light. They also make it easy for me to let my life be run by inspiration not obligation. ** When life gives me abundantly, I say ‘Yes!’ wholeheartedly  With courage.... When life takes from me mysteriously, I say ‘Yes!’ wholeheartedly  With surrender.... Sometimes, life gives when it takes and takes when it gives,  So I step into every moment holding hands with courage and surrender. It is my path to freedom. ** I have traveled all over the world except Australia (on my list). Where-ever I have gone, I have loved. I am the kind of person who is home wherever I go. I have been a dancer since I was 4 years old, primarily Bharatha Natyam, an Indian Classical dance form. Though, I just love to dance in general and have enjoyed Zumba as both a participant and instructor. I enjoy all sorts of music, Western and Eastern classical, West African music, jazz, pop, you name it. If it gets under my skin with a great beat, melody, vibe, or lyrics, it's got me. My family plays racquet sports: tennis, badminton, squash and ping pong competitively, and so I have dabbled in all these (I am not as skilled as they are). We also play soccer, basketball, volleyball and cricket for fun. I am happy to play keep away on land or water and can get very competitive, though I am more a dancer at heart and thus more of a collaborative person. I care about helping the underdog whether human, animal or our planet, this has been true all my life and part of why I started eating whole-food-plant-based since 2017 and the journey to that started long before (2012) I am also inspired to mentor young people and witness them blossoming. Finally, I love being an Airbnb host because I love meeting new people and helping them build their memories and experiences. We have two properties which we rent in different configurations hence the variety of listings. We hope one of our configurations will suit you and your group. My favorite Poem, which I live by: Autobiography in Five Short Chapters By Portia Nelson I I walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk I fall in. I am lost ... I am helpless. It isn't my fault. It takes me forever to find a way out. II I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I pretend I don't see it. I fall in again. I can't believe I am in the same place but, it isn't my fault. It still takes a long time to get out. III I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I see it is there. I still fall in ... it's a habit. my eyes are open I know where I am. It is my fault. I get out immediately. IV I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I walk around it. V I walk down another street. **** If you are curious about ASD Enterprises Limited: Asdel dot ca Reviews: Search for ASD Enterprises Limited on a search engine and click on the review tab.
