Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
This cozy cottage in the foothills of the Catskills offers a truly relaxing living space and property featuring 15 acres of exploring - wooded forest, stone walls, small streams and a catch and release (barbless hooks only) fish pond. It is the perfect spot for a quiet romantic getaway or a true family vacation!

The space
The cottage offers a quiet country escape! We guarantee that part of your day will always be spent in our 'outdoor living room' - our secluded, covered back porch overlooking the woods. Here, you can linger over and enjoy morning coffee, watch for native birds, take an afternoon nap, sip an evening cocktail and dine alfresco each meal. Additional outdoor dining can be enjoyed under the apple tree by the pond. The pond is available for catch and release fishing (barbless hooks only). Our field stone campfire pit is perfect for making s'mores, chatting, throwing on the occasional log into the crackling fire, and listening to the owls hooting close by...all under a starry sky. Indoors, the cottage offers several areas for quiet reading, family board games and puzzles, watching TV, and napping.

Hi, there! My name is Meredith and I was born and raised right here in Walton, NY not far from Lockwood Cottage! For the last 25 years though I have been living on Long Island with my husband and four children (now young adults), BUT, knowing the richness of country life, we, unhesitatingly, packed up our family each summer and headed to small town Walton for unscheduled outdoor time with horses, dogs and chickens, 4-H, river sports, nighttime sky, and the Great Delaware County Fair. I am very pleased to say that my children and husband now all share in and understand the loyal bond with a small town! Lockwood Cottage was my Aunt Doris' home for 45 years, built by her brother, my Dad. She was the head teller at the local bank for 30 years. Accounting for every penny was job security for her and that meticulous trait spilled over into her housekeeping and crafts! This cottage is where my Aunt used her hands to quilt, knit, paint, sew clothing and home decorations, macrame, create greeting cards, bake and decorate cakes, garden and flower arranging, can fresh fruits and vegetables, make dandelion wine in crocks, wallpaper, and build stone walls! Once a week, as a child and teenager, I stayed overnight and learned many of these same crafts right alongside her (having no TV due to lack of reception back then was indeed a blessing!) My Aunt passed away peacefully at 94 a few years ago and left me with two beautiful gifts - her home and the memories we shared. Most of her handicrafts were given as thoughtful gifts to family and friends over her long life, but some items still remain. Each room has one of her signature quilts hanging on the wall, painted furniture to sit on, and afgans and quilts to keep cozy while relaxing. Traveling is one of the best teachers in the world and it's so exciting! We welcome you from wherever you are in NYS, the US or World. Traveling is one of the best teachers in the world and it's so exciting! I have traveled to 17 European and South American countries for both work as a ship's officer and for pleasure with my husband. Additionally, my family has hosted eight Rotary international exchange students from three continents and our own four children each spent their junior years of high school in another country! So, with that, we invite you from wherever you are in this beautiful world of ours to pack your bags and head to our "country"! :) We promise you that Lockwood Cottage and its nature-filled property will soothe your soul and give you rest! WELCOME!
