Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
The Old Sawmill Lodge is located in the heart of the Scottish Borders’ town of Innerleithen. Built on the site of the Old Sawmill (still with its waterwheel) and adjacent to the mill lade
(stream), this comfortable accommodation is surrounded by history and offers the perfect getaway.
The retreat is ideal as a romantic hideaway or for cyclists, walkers and anglers.
.....And Dogs are welcome.

The space
The Lodge is next door to our house and set within its own garden with shared drive access. The interiors are spacious and bright with contemporary open plan living. The ground floor consists of great living, dining, kitchen and bathroom accommodation, seamlessly flowing together. The clean, modern spaces have unique design features and are finished to a high standard throughout.
The bedroom upstairs has a super-king bed, able to be 2 singles if required. Created to be cosy but practical, the room has a calming and relaxed feel.
In the garden is the original stone built waterwheel house, now listed as a Scottish Historical Monument. Next to this stands the turbine shed, that provided the first electricity for the town and all are here to be explored further.

Other things to note
With the property being located on the Mill Lade, care has to be taken next to the running water.

Neighbourhood highlights

Innerleithen and the Tweed Valley have many exciting places to visit. Originally a spa town, the waters of St Ronan’s Well are said to have restorative qualities. The many surrounding hills have world class downhill cycle trails and with Glentress 3 miles away, make it the perfect location for mountain bike enthusiasts from all over the world. The town is on the River Tweed, famously a magnet for anglers and is near to the Southern Upland Way for walkers. The Lodge is ideally situated for the good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs the town has to offer.
The local area also has a wide range of historical houses, castles and abbeys. On the doorstep is Scotland’s oldest inhabited house - Traquair, and a few miles away, Sir Walter Scott’s country home, Abbotsford.
