This is my lovely home in the quiet East Neuk village of St Monans. It is on a quiet street on the east edge of the village, with views of the sea and just a minute's walk from the coast path.

It is my home first and foremost, so if you are looking for a shiny and new, spotless, white rental home please don't be tempted here! Despite this, for an older house it is clean and airy, full of character and much-loved.

The space
From the street you go into the yard, where there is comfortable and private seating. There is a large shed space where you can store any sports equipment, this also has the washing machine and a drying pulley, although there is a good long washing line in the yard.

The entrance takes you into the outer kitchen, through to a galley-type kitchen and into the rest of the house. Downstairs there's a large living space, a shower/loo and the hall through to the front door where there is another small seating area outside. Upstairs there is a bathroom and two bedrooms; one double room and one room with two singles that can link together to make a large double bed if preferred.

Where you’ll be

Saint Monans, Scotland, United Kingdom

You can walk to the harbour in five minutes. The East Pier Smokehouse has utterly delicious food. St Monans has an excellent Post Office where you can get the basics and an awful lot more, it also gets fresh baked goods from Barnetts Bakery. The Diving Gannet has excellent coffee and cakes.

If you stay over the weekend I highly recommend the Bowhouse which is just outside St Monans - they have an online shop that closes on Wednesday for orders to be picked up on Saturdays and hold an open market once a moth. There is also the wonderful Ardross farm shop which is half way between St Monans and Elie.

The Fife coast path is on your doorstep. From the house you can see the St Monans sea pool - it is officially un-managed but has recently a community get-together have drained and given it a good old clean-up. There is a small football pitch and tennis court just behind Miller terrace. Elie has lovely sandy beaches and waterspouts. And then there are all the Fife golf courses...
