Deerwatcher Belltent

On the wooded smallholding of Moondawn, this is 'Light Touch Living's' very first 'den'. Snuggled into a sheltering copse of hazel, willow and blackberries, it gives lovely views down a sunny bank to a watermeadow, where roe deer often pass through to graze on the wild angelica and meadowsweet below. If you're really lucky, you'll spot our barn owls quartering for field voles there too.

The space
Deerwatcher is on a raised, timber platform. It has a warm, coir covered floor, a kingsized bed with a deep, natural latex mattress with wool duvet, and a small woodstove for those cool evenings or damp days. Extra wool blankets are provided. A kitchen hut adjoins the platform, with on-demand hot water, a double ring gas hob and pans, utensils, plates and cutlery. An outdoor dining area is to the rear, whilst a BBQ and firepit with seating are also provided. The lovely, sweetpea adorned, on-demand hot shower is to be found in the end of our polytunnel, whilst a clematis strewn, wattle-and-daub compost toilet building is nestled into a woodland bank... a tawny owl often roosts in the entrance by day, and robins and wrens by night.

Location

Glassonby, England, United Kingdom

Situated near the Pennine foothills, this is an artist's, poet's and writer's paradise and muse. All grounds are accessible except for working areas as signposted, and the workshop barn. Our young woodland will give you extraordinary views of the fells, and our unique microclimate affords cloudscapes such as rarely seen elsewhere. This is where you may experience the wild Helm Wind, England's only named wind with it's violent cloud formations. It's easy to see these foothills as reminiscent of Tolkien's Middle Earth, and imagine a group of hobbits strolling down our lanes to Hobbiton. Our elevation also brings us views of the Eden Valley and mountains of the North Lakes. Moondawn's grounds are peppered with wild and domestic berries, nuts and stonefruit in season, which guests may forage. In fact the whole of Moondawn is alive with wildlife, some of which will walk or land close to you if you're still and quiet.
