The space
BaseCamp is a 21-acre outdoor retreat located at the Southwind Rail Trail trailhead on the edge of Humboldt, Kansas. Designed for people who love spending time outside, the property offers a peaceful place to slow down, explore, and enjoy the outdoors.

Our three modern cabins — Alcyon, Bianchi, and Chesini — sit along the edge of the quarry pond and are thoughtfully designed to be simple, comfortable, and connected to nature. Each 350 sq. ft. cabin includes a tile shower, small kitchenette, and sleeping loft.

Cabin Alcyon features a queen bed in the loft and a modern futon-style sofa on the main floor that can accommodate a third guest.

The kitchenette includes a small refrigerator, hot plate, microwave, coffee maker, French press, electric kettle, and toaster — everything you need for simple meals during your stay.

Outside, guests can enjoy patio seating with two chairs and a table, along with a charcoal grill (charcoal and lighter fluid included), picnic table, and private firepit — perfect for relaxing evenings under the Kansas sky.

BaseCamp also offers shared experiences throughout the property, including the 3-acre quarry pond for fishing and paddling, complimentary bikes for exploring the nearby trail, e-bike rentals and plenty of open space to gather, unwind, and enjoy the outdoors.

Whether you're riding the Southwind Rail Trail, paddling on the pond, or ending the day around the fire, BaseCamp is a place to explore by day, settle in by the firelightand make lasting memories under the Kansas skies.

Cabin Chesini is located on the 21-acre Base Camp property in Humboldt, KS. Spend your time around the property fishing, kayaking, biking or relaxing. Or take a very short car ride or (bike ride) into town where you'll find great coffee, breakfast and lunch (Wednesday-Sunday), the sweetest French candy shop, a local micro-brewery and the coolest local honky tonk around.

Other things to note
Bring your kayak or borrow one of ours. We have watercraft (Kayaks, canoe, SUP) you can use during your stay.

Plan on biking the Southwind trail/Prairie Spirit trail? Bring your bike or borrow one of ours. We also have E-bike rentals onsite.
