A very quiet, peaceful, daytime retreat followed by a blanket of stars. One bedroom sleeps two comfortably while the large living area can sleep two. There's a kitchen, dining area and evaporative cooler. I have a two night minimum.

The space

In the heart of Wonder valley, the little cabin is just far enough off the trail to feel the quiet peace of the desert and close enough to town if a need arises.

Guest access

The cabin is a work in progress with enough progress to make your stay comfortable at this time. From here the desert is your oyster.

Interaction with guests

I may or may not be in the area, so calling me may be the option to interact, otherwise, I have friends to assist though its pretty easy on your own.

Michael and Lisa's place was very unique and perfectly placed just outside Joshua Tree park. It was super private and rustic, with 360 degree views, lots of natural light, and amazing sunsets thanks to the huge windows on all walls. As said in the description, the place is in progress and we're sure the final product will be great! The finished parts have taste and charm that show the potential of the place. The as-yet unfinished parts didn't bother us at all, but due to the renovations, the floor and surfaces were quiet dusty and sandy; we even had to shake out our bedsheets. We would have preferred more cleanliness and felt less comfortable than we would've liked for that reason. For the price, we expected cleaner floors and surfaces, though that may be more challenging to achieve than we imagine when you live in a windy desert (and when you're renovating your home!) The grounds are pretty eclectic, with trailers and a dilapidated car which echo the kind of ramshackle decor inside. Definitely good for Wild West photo shoots! Beware dogs or children as there is broken glass on the ground outside. Michael and Lisa were very responsive and great to communicate with. We'll be on the lookout for when the renovations are done, as this is a truly special place!

This wasn't my first stay at Michael's house and I certainly hope it won't be my last! I came out here to work on some writing and music projects and couldn't have been more at peace. The space is bright and airy, and so secluded, yet close to the entrance of the park. Leave your troubles behind, bring a good book and be prepared to redefine your idea of a relaxing bath!

The Pros of Michael's place: Location, Bathroom, and access to a washer/dryer. The Cons: Dust and allergens (possibly pet dander) Bugs, moths, scorpions (they even got into our luggage and came along with us to LA) A/C incredibly noisy When we had an issue with the washer and dryer Michael told us that he couldn't help us and that the w/d was intended primarily to be used by the maid (even though it was listed as an amenity).

Nice place to be, quiet and in the middle of almost nowhere. The comfort is basic but good enough to with all the amenities you require. we had a very good time there, appreciated the possibility for an outside fire, a comfortable tub for a bath after a visit to the park.

Michael's home was secluded, yet close to town (~15min drive). It was perfect for stargazing and having a bonfire. The place looks just like the photos, and there was so much land. Although there were lots of moths because they are attracted to light, it was not too much of a burden. Michael provided shampoo, towels, laundry, dryer, etc. No WiFi or TV. The bathtub is huge! I loved the lots of natural light that came into the home. Although the house is secluded, I felt like some curtains or blinds should be on the windows, but that is my opinion. Perfect home for a little getaway from the city.

A really cool place, very peaceful. Mike was excellent answering all of my questions immediately. My two daughters and I had a magical time in the desert. Can't wait to come back.

Film productions is my day job. I hang with my daughter when she's not with her mom. I enjoy just being in the desert and otherwise am involved with various craft/art related projects.
