We. Loved. It. This is such a chic flat. The location on Fuencarral is perfect, right in the heart of all the activity: shopping, restaurants, nightlife, etc. You really get a sense of the Madrid 'pulse'. The proximity to all the action is ideal. Walking distance to Chueca, Malasana, and many of the sights. I also cannot underscore enough how lovely the patio was. Your own little private getaway as people bustle around below until late into the evening. It was bigger and better than pictured. Perfect for enjoying a bottle of Spanish wine. The bedroom is also tastefully apointment, and we loved the low ceiling for a cosy atmosphere. We would definitely stay here again!

Great location. The apartment is well equiped, clean and as described. The terrace is a real gem. Elisa is easy to communicate with and very helpful for any enquiries you might have. She was also flexible about check in/out. Our stay was amazing! Very much recommended!

Upon securing the apartment for 3 days in Madrid, I did hear from Elisa quickly. She does not live in Madrid, but had her friend Teddy connect with me on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) prior to arriving. We were very appreciative that Teddy was willing to meet us at 12:30 due to our flight arriving at 10:00. We were able to leave our luggage and return after a couple of hours. Big thing to note - this apartment is on the sixth floor (quinto or 5th in Europe), and there is no elevator. There are 99 steps from the ground floor to the apartment. When Teddy met us there to drop off our luggage, we were not given any additional information about the apartment or the area. This was the second of three Airbnb rentals we were using while in Spain, and the first came with a 20 minute apartment and area orientation and a sit down with a map. Major difference. We were not shown how to use anything, what to be mindful of, nor told of any house rules. We were given keys and that was it. The apartment itself is pretty shabby. There were stains on the walls and on the furniture. The bathroom mirror is cracked. The appliances, pots, pans and dishes were old and inexpensive. The shower and bedroom were awkward - if you are taller than 5'6" (168 cm), you will hit your head in the shower and in the bedroom. There is a lot of crouching to be done in this place, and it just felt a bit dirty. The bed is about 3 inches off the floor and didn't have a blanket, just a sheet. The air conditioning worked great, the stove and refrigerator were nice, the washing machine worked well, the hot water was hot, and the terrace, while very sunny (no shade), was lovely for having morning coffee (just don't accidentally lock yourself out there, the door doesn't open from outside), and it was surprisingly quiet for being such a busy spot. The neighborhood is not fancy, but it seems to be kind of a "hip" area. Every door is covered in graffiti and there is a lot of street garbage. When we ventured over to the area of Colón, we were surprised at how beautiful and clean it was. The Metro station Tribunal is about a block away and was very convenient for our sightseeing. Area tip: there is a perfectly acceptable diner next to the apartment called Cervecería Rocablanco, and they were patient with our broken Spanish and served us delicious cafe con leche, churros and bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches each morning. Our checkout was a bit of a mess. I messaged Teddy the day before to ask if there any special instructions for check out. He said his assistant would come to the apartment at 11:00 to check us out. We had to be on the Metro by 11:15 to make our train to Barcelona. At 11:25, we were...

This was a great flat to stay in! It worked out perfectly because we were close to where my sister lives and also close to shopping areas. Clean, nice place! It was a super cozy place to stay. Plus the AC was really nice on the very hot days in Madrid! It was on the 5th floor, so as long as you don't mind steps that wasn't bad either.

I've been staying in many Airbnb apartments and always found very nice hosts. During my month stay at Elisa's I have been through many problems. Elisa came across as being always very nice but fake and not helpful, lying and not solving important safety issues. The first night I realised that there was no mattress in the bedroom but only a sprung mattress base. I wouldn't have complained if I had to stay for a week but a month stay is long. I had to involved Airbnb and sent photos of the mattress base. Elisa promised to deliver a cheap mattress but at the end after 12 days and endless conversations she delivered only a blanket to cover the mattress! She had been lying to me for days, if she said she had no intention to provide a mattress I would not have stayed longer than 2 nights. The other major problem is the leaking of water from the ceiling in the bedroom. At first I wasn't much worried because it was a little leak but after a while the dripping became more and more consistent, becoming a safety issue. It has been raining all month long in May in Madrid. The host admitted that she was well aware of the leaking but she never said anything before! She offered me to pay for the days I stayed and leave. What a kind offer right? Renting an apartment with no mattress, with leaks from the ceiling and offering the chance to leave. I couldn't possibly pay for another place and there wasn't any availability on Airbnb so I had to stay. Renting an apartment with major leaks from the roof SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED. Regarding the apartment itself, as someone mentioned in other reviews, it is managed by an agency and the lady who checked me in didn't know anything about the apartment at all, they just do the check in, not even hand soap was provided. The host doesn't take care of her place, the sofa was completely broken, you can't seat on it and it's filthy, very, very dirty. I have photos. The apartment could be very nice space but looks very cheap, from flooring to furniture and not looked after overall. It's ok only for small people, I'm 6.1 ft and had to bend over all the time to go from one room to another. It's almost impossible to take a proper shower as it gets very narrow from the shoulders up. Never seen anything like that before. What's really disgusting about this place is that when you open any window you get the stinky smell from several extraction hobs from some restaurant downstairs. Fish and meat. Aww I asked for a reasonable refund and Airbnb kindly gave me a voucher for all I experienced. In conclusion, the apartment could be very nice but it's not looked after, the area is very lively and centrally located but there are many better options on Airbnb and many honest hosts

Response from Elisa:

The flat is very well located and has everything you need. The small terrace is lovely and Elisa was kind to let us leave lugages after the check out, because our flight was leaving at night.
