A remote, quiet living area of the Dao Tien. It is still untouched by mass tourism. People are trained well by Action on Property project to do community based tourism. Benefits from tourism are equally distributed to the villagers. Very authentic culture of the Dao Tien.

The space
In Sung village, Dao Tien families traditionally live in single-story, ground-level homes built with five main sections: two to three combined living and sleeping areas, one kitchen, and a sacred space for worshiping the kitchen god. When the community-based tourism project was introduced, locals were encouraged to host guests in their own homes, converting part of their existing space into overnight accommodation.

Each homestay typically offers 12–15 single beds, complete with mattresses, blankets, pillows, bedside reading lights, and power outlets. Fabric curtains are used to create privacy between guests. The shared bathroom area is located just 5–10 meters from the house and includes two clean toilets and two hot-water showers, stocked with essentials like shampoo, body wash, and toothpaste—though single-use items are not provided.

Guests are welcome to relax in the family’s front yard or shared seating area, and may even be invited into the kitchen to watch meal preparations or enjoy a warm chat around the fire.

Other things to note
Sung Hamlet offers a unique opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the authentic life and heritage of the Dao Tien people through a variety of engaging experiences:

- Stroll through the hamlet to explore traditional Dao Tien stilt houses, and gain insights into their construction techniques and the cultural meaning behind each architectural element.

- Venture into Sung Cave, a sacred site deeply intertwined with the community’s spiritual beliefs, and learn about unique Dao Tien rituals such as the Lap Tinh initiation ceremony, wedding customs, and funeral rites.

- Discover the art of traditional costume-making, from beeswax printing and indigo dyeing to intricate embroidery—each step telling a story of identity and craftsmanship.

- Savor the flavors of heritage cuisine by learning how to prepare fermented sour pork and rice wine—dishes once reserved for honored guests and ceremonial occasions like weddings or Lap Chay and Lap Tinh festivals.

- Explore the revival of Do paper making, a nearly forgotten craft now being passionately preserved and transformed into a cultural art form, with paper products even reaching international markets.

- Live a day in the life of a Dao family, joining in seasonal farm work and cooking traditional meals such as bamboo-grilled pork and chicken stewed with sour bamboo shoots.

Sung Hamlet is not just a destination—it’s a journey into the heart of Dao Tien culture, where every experience is a story waiting to be told.

Others: We create an eco friendly living space with very less single use plastics so please bring your own toothbrush and refilled water bottle.
