Imagine a beautiful 3-story beach house in a lovingly maintained, safe ecological reserve. Each floor has its own kitchen, bathroom, a bedroom with queen bed, and two single beds in the living room. Gorgeous views, large shaded decks, all around!
Casa También is open to the diverse, natural beauty of the Ecuadorean coast. Screened-in living spaces, locked doors, and the ecological reserve itself provide safety and security. Cook all your meals in Casa Tambien, or eat at the beachfront restaurant/bar. Sounds of tropical birds and the 24/7 gentle whoosh of the ocean encourage relaxation. Options: walks on the beach, body surfing in a warm ocean, nature and geological explorations, creative endeavors, naps, and envisioning new choices for yourself.
Come to relax, get inspired, and pamper yourself.
The house has beds for 12 people, but many more could sleep in sleeping bags, or in any of the many hammocks that hang on the wide wrap-around porches. The house is perfect for yoga or meditation retreats, naturalists, large family (or friends' ) reunions, visionary board and business retreats, etc.
Guests get their own personal keys for accessing each of the three floors.
All guests at Casa Tambien also have full access to the beach and the lovingly maintained walking trails at Playa Escondida, as well as to its beachfront restaurant and bar.
Interaction with guests
Except when we're at our house in Ecuador (1-2 months most years), our contact with guests is via email or phone. Playa Escondida's owner is Canadian, and other English-speaking workers can provide laundry services and assist with other questions and needs.
People who rent the entire home will have it all to themselves. They can interact as much or as little as they want with homeowners or other guests at Playa Escondida. Casa Tambien is very private.
Other things to note
While a rudimentary grasp of Spanish is needed to get around in most of Ecuador, both the Canadian owner, and several of her American helpers speak English in Playa Escondida. That makes navigating the restaurant or getting your laundry done easier.
While the listing for each floor is for ONE bedroom and THREE beds, note that the exceptionally comfortable Queen bed is in a private bedroom. The other two single beds, each one by two meters, thus quite a bit bigger than standard single beds, and made of thick foam, are in the living area.
Saunter down to the sea for some body-surfing in water that heals your body.
Enjoy fish, lobster, shrimp or ceviches that were in the ocean just a day or two ago.
Take a walk down the coast through openings made in the rock over thousands of years. Explore for shells, draw a picture, “harvest” some driftwood, sit on a rock.
Read a book. Or three. Or ten.
Paint a picture, on the beach, or on your deck.
Put your feet up on one of the ten hammocks throughout the house. Take a nap.
Do some yoga. Meditate. And think about coming here next time with your entire yoga or meditation group. While there are beds for twelve people in Casa Tambien, if others brought sleeping bags, the house could accommodate many, many more. The screened-in living area comprises only about one-third of the square footage, while the decks comprise two-thirds of the floor space.
For kids there is nothing better than walking, digging, collecting shells on the beach and swimming in the warm waters of Playa Esondida. We have left art supplies and some games in the bodega (or locked storage room) of our house: ask Wilfer, the gardener, to open it for you. There is a two-person swing, and more play equipment coming; one of the owners has a playground-building company in NC: see (URL HIDDEN) The grassy yard is for bare feet.
Note: Whale-watching, kayaking, chocolate-making, bird-watching, and many other tours, can be arranged nearby.
Please treat our home as if it were your own. A detailed explanation of how everything works on each floor can be found in each floor's Guestbook.
The keys to each floor are very expensive and hard to replace (in Quito), so keep your keys safe. It is important to always lock up when you leave. Upon registration, we will tell you who to return the keys to. Losing or inadvertently taking the keys with you will result in a $100 surcharge per floor.
