The space
With original 19th Century features, such as the exposed stone end-wall, this charming cottage is a cosy retreat. The property has central heating and a woodburning stove in each of the downstairs rooms, with woodfuel provided, should you wish to use them.

If you wish to self-cater, the kitchen is well equipped, with a fantastic Rangemaster stove/oven/grill, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine should you need to do laundry.

There is broadband wifi throughout the house and a large TV with Netflix and for football fans, both BT Sport and Sky Sports available.

There are 2 bedrooms, each with a double bed, and a comfortable sofa bed in the living room, if a fifth bed is required, charged at £15 per night. For babies/toddlers, we can offer a travel cot free of charge.

Local places to visit include the World Heritage Site at New Lanark, which gives a glimpse into the life of the woolen mills during the 19th century, as well as walks to the dramatic Falls of Clyde.

Drumlanrig Castle is well worth a visit with tours of the stately home and gardens possible and for the kids a superb adventure playground.

Wanlockhead offers the chance to make your fortune by gold panning and the village of Leadhills has the very interesting lead mining museum and working railway.

For take-aways and restaurants, Biggar offers a range of options from pub grub to fantastic fish and chips as well as a great curry house.

Biggar also has a Coop supermarket and a Spar. Abington General Stores is the closest option for essentials and is worth visiting to pick up wonderful pork links, bacon and back pudding from local butchers.
